As an Active Duty Soldier I have seen him perform shows twice. Many people don't know, but he performs dozens of FREE concerts for Soldiers. I heard this old song of Tim's on the radio this morning and cried like a baby. What a truly awesome song about our military people. God bless you Tim McGraw.
Huge Timmie fan. Was at one of his concerts when my boy was in Afghanistan and when he sang this, he had me bawling like a baby. I am one of the blessed ones...I never recieved that letter.
This hit me back when he first released it. Fighting is never done after your time in service. Help other veterans out. Don't punish the veterans they had way more pain and suffering than any could ever know. 💔. Giving up everything to be a robot and no life. Only to be crushed and become a man. Laying down everything they thought they knew and sometimes it was the only thing they ever knew.
I was at Tim & Faith’s 1st Soul 2 Soul concert many years ago in Orange County, CA. I was lucky enough to have 2nd row seats. When he performed this song, I turned to see an older couple, maybe in their 70’s, embracing each other sobbing. I felt that Tim sang this song for them and perhaps because they lost their son in Afghanistan😢
I can't believe that this came out so long ago. This song helped me process a lot of tragedy back in the day. It's still something that I turn to tonight.
God bless Tim McGraw and his family for everything he does for us "The Veterans" you brought tears to my eyes and my heart is crying for those Soldiers to my left and my right that did not come back from the war zone. God bless America, Tim McGraw and our Service men and woman... freedom isnt free! SFC, U S Army.
I cannot ever make it through this song without crying like a baby. This is such a powerful song. I grew up knowing, and loving freedom. I grew up knowing that our freedoms come from The Lord God Almighty, and are ensured to us by our Constitution, and by our BRAVE and HONORABLE soldiers that have fought and died and watched their friends, their fathers, their brothers, their sons, their sisters, their mothers, their daughters die to ensure those rights to us. God Bless this great country, and God Bless our brave and honorable men and women who fight and die to keep war and tyranny away from us! THANK YOU ALL from the bottom of my heart!

God bless our troops and be a special comfort to those left behind when they’ve lost a loved one to war.
I held in the tears until that last bit. The revelation of all the family members just made me lose it, realizing how lucky we are, those of us who don't have to worry about whether or not our family member is coming home at the end of the day. God Bless all our troops; come home safe.
