    I like that it is small and compact. I think that everything is going the way of USB-C and eventually they will get smaller and smaller. My problem is that I need a KVM that supports 3x DP monitors and they aren't cheap. Looks like a great product and I am sure it will help you with your setup.

    Thanks for the video! I would enjoy more kvm reviews as I have been searching for the perfect one for a while with no luck. I must have bought 6-8 cheap ones so far.
    Unfortunately this one seems to lack EDID emulation per the Amazon reviews. This feature helps to prevent the monitors disconnecting and reconnecting when you switch PCs. If you don't have this your open windows will be moving around to different monitors. This is needed for my setup, PC1 has 2 monitors and I want to switch to PC2 on only one monitor while leaving my open windows in place on PC1's second monitor. Hopefully that wasn't too confusing. Maybe anker can add this feature in future products.

    I wouldnt mind it if you could do a long term review on this, ive used a number of kvms and they initially work and then you have these odd problems especially with usb devices - i would switch to abother comouter and boom the camera doesnt get switched over ... And often to get it to work again i need to pull the usb out and replug it. I've found this to be the case with all(5 that ive gone through) of the kvms.

    I ended up returning mine. My dual monitors only supported HDMI so I tried using a DisplayPort to HDMI cable for one of the monitors and it didn’t work. If someone is able to get this working please let me know because I was really hoping this would work.

    I do think that the single USB-C input for PC 1 is limiting though. Some laptops are not able to handle more than one 4K outputs through a single USB-C port (bandwidth limited). For example my 2021 Dell XPS 15 laptop cannot do this. I currently have to use two different USB-C ports to use two monitors, meaning that the switch button on this KVM Switch would only be able to switch one of my monitors to the correct source.
    It does look like a nice little device. But for £250 RRP the limitation of that one USB-C port for PC 1 would make a it a no-go for a lot of people I think.

      @jennerate1206 Před 8 měsíci +1

      Also, there is no mention of HDR passthrough either on their product page, which could also being limiting if your workflow requires it.

  • @czemacleod
    @czemacleod Před 8 měsíci

    For specific scenarios this seems like a reasonable fit. I don't understand mixing the video connectors though. If you have 2 monitors they are normally the same so you would want 2x dp or 2x hdmi, and normally the same for your desktop PC output as your gpu likely has 2x the same connector. This just seems to mean you are likely to need to buy new cables.
    It would also make sense to have a switched USB port on the back so you don't have your webcam cable hanging out the front like that.
    I also feel the price is a little high for what it can do.
    I know it was sponsored, but I think those points would have made it a less biased review, especially as you didn't mention price or value for money at all.

    Can these support 2560x1440@120 or 144Hz on the HDMI port? The "AV Access" docks specify HDMI 4K60 or 1440@144.

    • @DBTechYT

      I guess it ultimately depends on what your needs are and which one better serves those needs.

    • @spelljammer
      @spelljammer Před 6 měsíci

      @@DBTechYT Right. I'm just curious if there is any functional difference. Trying to decide between the two models. Like would I get faster USB throughput for my devices on the PC1 connection if I got the 553 model, given the dedicated DP/HDMI inputs on that side? I do notice that the USB-C input on the PC1 connection (553 model) is 5Gbps, so maybe it would not make a difference. Just curious if you know.

    • @DBTechYT
      @DBTechYT  Před 8 měsíci +3

      Thanks. I think "most people have moved to 4k 120" is a bit of an over-statement. I agree with the 4k, but I don't think "most people" are going for 120. Gamers, game devs, sure, but, again, I don't know about "most people" going for 4k 120.

      @@DBTechYT I use an old 8 port Minicom 1U in my rack. It has little adapters that let you make the cable runs out of Cat5 FTP or STP cable and then plug the other end into the switch directly.
