I would have liked to have heard what it sounded like. If you put a 16" Aquarian Superkick head on the resonant side, you may have a good "kick" sound. I once tried to play a store model of a cocktail kit and playing the kick with beater facing up seemed like a fight against gravity. That may have been just the kit too.
Niche product. The only alternative is the DW sidekick for 250 USD. I dreamt to have this last year when looking at the most minimal kit. I ended up getting a small BD from a custom shop (and happy with it, it will still sound better than a floor tom!). If I want to go even smaller, I know what products to turn to now!
It is good to keep in mind the size of the rack Tom you are attaching to the floor tom. I bought all the accessories (not a huge amount of money) then found the only rack tom I had was much too large to attach to the floor tom. There was no way to get the setup stable.

I think the tom mount would work for my 8 x 12, flipped around like that, but am a bit concerned about the weight if flipped.

Does the FT have to be perfectly flat (level) for this pedal attachment to work correctly?
No not completely. If you have a drastic angle you may have some issues getting it to sit right

Is it adjustable to fit different sizes or brands? For example, the leg spacing on a 16" Pearl is different than a 16" Ludwig.
