Addressing Austin DeSanto's Antics

- From the moment he got to Iowa Tom and Terry Brands were all over Austin DeSanto and would not let him get away with his antics in the practice room. The results don't happen overnight, but over time they were able to help shape and mold Austin into a better person on and off the mat.
Our newest film - Spencer & Austin: Wrestletown, USA is available now on FloWrestling for FREE.

If AJ Ferrari can make it on the team, they’re gonna have to address his antics as well
I think that ship has sailed, even though I was hoping to see AJ back on the mat.
Lol you have to be able to beat him first. He's gonna go to Carolina
AJ Ferrari won't pass the drug tests. I'm almost certain of it.
I don't know whether or not AJ has drug problems, but he's definitely demonstrated character issues and a lack of impulse control. Pure wrestling talent is not enough to give him success in life... and it's a real shame that he isn't getting the hard character coaching that he needs. He's actually a good candidate for professional wrestling if he's willing to play a heel role for the long term. But it's sad to see the AJ tragedy play out in such a public way.
@@rockyhillguy6472completely different game, pro wrestling.
Brands talking about himself in third person haha 😂
“Jimmy’s under the boards; Jimmy’s in the open; Jimmy makes the shot!”😂
Be cool if more schools put a documentary out about psychic of the Seniors, weight cut, nutrition, diet, training. I want to see preseason through NCAA tourney
It’s been good to seeing this kid grow up.
How tall is he now ?

This is the way mature people handle important issues. The Brands Bros and AD. You set a great example to those who love the sport. Keep up the good work. Molding character as well as responsible adults.
Can’t wait to watch this ‼️‼️🙌🙌
Nice job Tom and Terry. This will pay dividends to Austin long after wrestling is over.
Excellent comment
HUGE respect to head coach Tom Brands. I'm not an Iowa fan but the hard work ethic that Brands 1st demands of himself then on his team. Tom Brands is LEGEND
Spencer Lee on the bike at 2:10 on right.
Great video. Great example of coaching, teaching, and the critical importance of repeatedly correcting someone. Respect to Tom and Terry Brands.
Kid is a hard worker, but cray cray.
Not cray cray, just very immature.
@@j.menapace625 Tomato, tomato. But I get your point.
You could argue that about every high level wrestler lmao
@@jomama969 True
Same thing
Really enjoyed watching him
Desanto can be a very good wrestler. He just needs very good coaches. I think hes in the right place at HWC.
the sound track is tuff and perfect for this video austin has always been one of my favorite wrestlers, and it’s awesome to see the brands making him fix it and help him get better, and anytime i need a laugh i just search flying kartwheel kimora😂😂😂 and the way Tom said “how’s that feel” is so awesome because he rubbing it in his face as if he’s and official and is like i just gave him a point for nothing how you like that huh and i feel like that makes austin stop because he’s not gonna give his opponent anything
Love Desanto. Antics and all. As long as he’s not intentionally trying to hurt anyone. I always looked at his relationship with Suriano as a gauge for how I felt about Austin. For all the crap they’ve been through, Nick always spoke highly of and respected Austin’s competitiveness. If Suriano can see past the head case aspect, I can too. Micic may have another perspective tho. lol
Two criminally insane people
Yeah, that's the only thing I can't get past is what he tried on Micic. That bothered me.
@@Anogram yeah. That incident was beyond inexcusable
Micic is a dork
@@johnfraleee I never said he was cool
Dude is 100% artisticated
No self control.
He's still doin it

Glad to see this! His antics were childish and showed his immaturity. In my opinion, it diminished his fantastic skill and made me always root for his opponent.
he is a beach
Austin DeSanto
I'm a psu fan and alumnus and I gotta give it to Tom and Terry Brands, they are amazing coaches.
And PSU is a great club
Gained a ton of respect for beating Lee in the PIAA championships. Lost it when he tried breaking that one guys arm & when he quit after RBY was about to pin him. 🤷🏼♂️
Nobody cares
@@bb4810 obviously you did enough to reply…
@@Ur2ez4me81 I like calling out idiots. 🤷♂️
@@bb4810 Is this DeSanto himself or something? Bro get a life 🤷🏼♂️
Btw my younger brother pinned his bro 😂 back in the day
@@bb4810 Nah you're just begging for attention.
Someone iron his shirt!
And they still let him get away with his antics 😭😭😭
Without those antics, he wouldn't be Desanto.
Seriously, you didn’t stop him on the mat. He’s a big part of the fans hating Iowa.
Did Seth Gross get the same treatment?
seth gross was arrested
I do not want a man with this type of track record taking my order at Wendy’s!
Desanto was tuff !!!! Placed 3rd twice & 5th once ! I would have like to see him take out RBY & get it title !! He was always moving on the mat he had no quit
Placed 4th as well. Dude’s a 4 time all American
@@MrMannyfresh78 he didn’t place 4th
@@MrMannyfresh78 3rd twice & 5th once 2020 their was no CHAMPIONSHIPS & his freshman year he didn’t place
Actually he quit against RBY after almost getting caught in a cradle 🤷🏼♂️
@@Ur2ez4me81 that was one match & that’s not what I’m talking about at NCAAs !!!!
desanto's behavior was bad right until the end, tho. he kept disrespecting tom. i remember enjoying the antics and rooting for the villain but by the end of his NCAA career it was just a little too much. there's a fine line between fiery competitor and dummy who just cant control himself.
Not sure DeSanto was a nutter until he went to Iowa. Saw him a bunch when he wrestled for Drexel and didn’t seem to act out then.
He literally tried to break someone’s arm at Drexel lol
@@jayalexis923yeah, the infamous cartwheel into a kimura against Micic. That was pretty slick. Hopefully he gets into Jiu Jitsu some day, lol
@@josephbreza-grappling9459 oh yeah. I forgot about that one! My bad!
@@PDaddy44 I laugh every time I see a replay of that shit. Lol! Get this man into Jiu Jitsu, because that was sick. Unsportsmanlike but pretty awesome hahaha
People just dont understand what its like to be that competitive. People who judge him have just never known TRUE passion for a sport. Austin is real passionate competitor who had coaches who were good at teaching texhnique, but were just shit at the guidance and self control part of coaching. (The most important part)
Looks like he changed
The wrestling room is where real workouts happen. Not outside on the football field.
I really want to see him get to the Olympics.
I say he’s the fifth most likely guy at 65
Lol. Help him buy a ticket. That's close as he's getting
Yeah I just like him but like Austin Gomez and “RBY” he’s frustrating to watch sometimes.

Yeah such a great job. Lmfao
Have you seen him the past year or 2? Hella good job
@@tyngouamo7067 I saw him try and break vitos hand when he got leg laced
@gabec6522 That's less dirty and more you're gonna try to do whatever tf it takes to not get finished dude.
@@tyngouamo7067 we all know u like the big finish

It's basically a recruiting video.
I don’t get it one of the most rough and physical sports and people care about their feelings being hurt not even directly?
DeSanto is a POS trying to break other people's arms during a match vs Stevan Micic.
That was a desperation move, he was trying to catch him off guard in a crucifix stack.
@@ThePelicanKing Desperation move or not, that's the crap you do in the UFC. He belongs in jail not on the mat
@@ThePelicanKingYou serious? He literally did an illegal move that the other wrestler didn’t even see coming & didn’t do it just one time. He literally repeatedly tried to break that guys arm 🤦
@@Ur2ez4me81 czcams.com/video/Va6feldqmRk/video.html
To me, it looked like he was trying to hit this move, and Micic defended it, which is when he got caught underneath and then locked up his legs, which I agree he shouldn't have done. It didn't look like his intention was the Kimura, but only he knows what was going on in his head.
This was before IOWA wtf.
Penn State is better.
Damn straight they are!
Some guys need the Iowa style of coaching and some guys will do better with the Penn State style. Both programs develop high quality competitors and this CZcams clip focused on how Iowa helped Austin develop in areas that Penn State probably would not be able to address. Wrestlers in both programs are at the elite level and will need individualized coaching to reach their highest potential. I wouldn't say either of these programs is better than the other, even though the final team scores might indicate otherwise. The important decision each emerging elite high school wrestler has to make is which D1 program is the best fit to help them meet their individual lifetime goals. Iowa and Penn State both have world class coaches who can help a wrestler advance in their quest to win an Olympic gold metal. And so do a lot of other top level programs. For Austin Desanto, I think he landed in the perfect program that could develop him to reach his absolute highest potential.
@@rockyhillguy6472 I'm just a salty penn state fan that's trolling but well said.
