You know why Mike Wolfe didn't call Frank. It is because Mike tends to run his mouth in public a bit much around Franks sensative topics, to the point of narcissistic abuse and also is doing it to jersey john. Mike instead of helping the guy about his topics as real friends do... Shoots him down a lot on camera in many different episodes. Big time fan of the American pickers show but after learning this... I hope Frank gets better and can get back in his step where he was before. As for Mike... I hope he takes a good long hard look at how he treats people from now on. Best to the both of them. p.s. Every show has its dominant character which was Mike. The script was that Frank was the one to appear as the one to be picked on. I seen another video where Frank was saying how he had to do all the heavy lifting, yet it was Mike that who seen crawling everywhere and lowering down the heavy stuff. It was Mike that appeared to load all the heavy items. Substance abuse can play a toll on those around you. It appeared that when Frank fell apart, he really fell apart. Lost his girlfriend, had back surgery, and went to rehab all during Covid. It may have been hard on those he worked with to deal with it all, especially the addiction. You never know how much or how long Frank’s addiction played a part in the partnership on the show. Remember people watching the show see a very edited version of the life of these characters.

On quite a few shows you could see Frank clearly trying to get something valuable for next to nothing and you could also tell in some episodes the persons whose house they were picking kind of reralise Frank was trying to mug them off, Mike stepped in quite a few times to regain the person trust and also tell Frank its clearly worth more and Frank would then sort of say - oh yeh I hadnt noticed the signature on the bottom - or - yes true Mike I hadnt realised actually how good condition it was now its in the light - so yeh Frank was very dodgy on some shows, and in the much latter shows Frank almost had bust-ups with people they were picking.

I went off the show after reading it was all fake and the deals are pre-arranged. Of course I know "reality" tv is full of set ups, with story lines etc, but I like to think there is at least some relation to reality, but now I don't think there is and it's all staged - like how they seed storage units in those shows where they find Tutankhamun's sarcophagus. Gimme a break. After the first few seasons it got worse though, with Mike, whos like a used-car salesman and full of sh*t, rigging every interaction to make himself look good and advertise his business. Everyone he meets goes to camera to say how great he is, while he humble-brags about educating people and "lightening their load" after paying some poor widow less than half of what her dead husbands best stuff is worth. A very irritating man.

Frank made Mike tolerable, it is all about attitude.
Danielle was the business maven keeping the coordinates rolling right along. The juxtaposition of Frank and Mikes knowledge was very entertaining. The banter between them always felt slightly tense but good natured enough to make great television.
Their commitment to finding a good hunt was what I looked forward to.

My wife and I went to a place in West Virginia that was on the show and they explained how the American Pickers van was unloaded from a flatbed truck about a block away and they pretended to have driven there. Then they scripted what they were going to buy and how much they were going to pay. However, the stuff never actually changed hands. P.T.

Touching on issue with the show itself…
Having worked in the industry there is a little well-known role within “reality TV” programming, and that’s the role of the script-supervisor(s).
Also one who might embellish the episode/series to fit or walk along a motivated direction.

I got injured at work and was unable to finish out my career after putting in 26 years. I was no longer a valuable asset to the employer, and the "friends" I thought I had faded away within a few months. The less than a handful that remained are true friends. It's devastating to lose your sense of self and try to reinvent yourself.
I learned the hard way that, although I threw myself wholeheartedly into my career and placed far too much of my being into who I was at work. My employer, as a whole, only saw me as a number, nothing more. "Hero" one day, zero the next.

Best comment yet. Frank is our connection to fame doing the fun stuff we can dream of, and the arrogance of the other "actor's" is pathetic. It's a show, and people in showbiz are there for the accolades and admiration, ego strokes and power exchange so of course they are narcissists, duh. What makes a character great is what they do when they won't benefit from you.
I'm proud of anyone that seeks help like Frank did. I can only imagine how hurt and abandoned he must feel. When seeking treatment what one needs is a solid support system and Mike failed as a friend and as an empathetic human being. He and she have shown their tru colors and are such a turn off. The sad thing is if they've been friends that long, and if narccistic influence the manipulation and abuse has been gradual and the trauma bond is concrete. You never know what someone is going through, on either side.

Sorry buddy but hanging on to the past is all we have because the future is just not to bright . I've gotten old now so what ever happens in this country doesn't matter to me thank God I won't be around to see the down fall . So the past is something good to hang on too . We didn't have cameras watching our every move . Because of stupidity we're gonna fall from grace and the world will fall soon after . So good luck to y'all , I'd like to think that we can fix it all but there are more morons in this country than anyone ever thought so I don't have a lot of confidence that it'll get fixed .

@@bobgarlick2108 I agree, but at our age we can hang on to the very best of the past {because things just wont get any better than it was then} & at the same time get on with new stuff to make life worth living!! We did our bit to make the world great & worth living in, now it's up to the the woke {worthless} z generation to keep it that way. But I wouldn't hold my breath, at the moment this world is going to hell in a hand basket that's for sure!! Cheers bob & have a better one.

I may come off as cold and ugly but people with substance abuse issues do deserve our show of love and support but this can only go so far. At a point the dependence of the substance grows toxic to others around and its best to step away from these people. If they find there way back home that is amazing and truly great but many can't find the light and it just socks. I know nothing of their situation just speaking from experience.

C'mon Frank make a American Pickers series of your own, everyone wants to see you do it. I'll miss Daniel, I had a soft spot for her, hang on that's not quite accurate, lol.

Mike would be fair with people that had no idea what they had or it's value, Frank would often lowball or bully his way into deals, I hate people like that.

  • @priddycrankyyankeeamyniemi8957

Body language with her arm around Mike and away from Frank in one photo is an obvious stonewall .
When someone reaches the point of bettering their life by seeking treatment, the last thing they need is for the assumibly non addicted friends and family to abandon a d cut them off when they need encouragement and support and love
There is so much silence in this it's deafening. 3 sides to every story. I wonder why no talk of Frank having another show or spokesperson for some commercials.

I watched show for years and always got slimy vibe off Frank... never an honest offer but bundle deals... and obviously playing the game.... never was willing to appreciate the piece and the seller more than his huge profit. Look frank never offers fair price.. argues over like 10bucks to still make hundreds... he's an arsehole.
Mike regularly offers more to be fair and make less himself. If they offer too little he says no and offers fair price... frank never. Come on. What u all been watching? I feel like I live in crazy land how others see just obvious human interactions.

@@richardcranium366 i see your side, i was more focused on the support one needs when seeking treatment or counseling and less focused on profit or business practices. One would assume how much contempt was felt at the end when they couldnt even fake comradery whilst cameras are on them so it had to be a tense work environment. All things must end, such is life.
