Been learning about film from you guys since my freshman year of high school back in 2014. Ryan, I've been following you since the beginning and always loved your authenticity and creativity, you never tried to paint things for us in the typical YouTubish influencer way (if that term even exists). You are one of the main reasons I got hooked into filmmaking.

I'm dealing with creative burnout at the moment I stopped and quit all the projects I was working on. But I'm recharging my batteries and hoping to get back to it 110%

Thank you Ryan! Last year was definitely a rough one, juggling school, creative pursuits, two extra jobs... sometimes it all gets too much. This is just from my experience, but recognizing when you need professional help and when you need to take a step back is just as important as brushing up on your lighting or framing knowledge. Personally, I'm taking a semester off to prioritize mental and physical health.
After all, how can create your best work if your stress and anxiety are through the roof? Hopefully this helps some folks.

I realised the other day how much Josh is like a more diverse Zach Galifianakis. It’s weird.
Well I sadly tested positive and haven’t worked in like 2 & a half weeks and I got a lot of accessories, like a follow focus, setup up ring for my lens and 15mm rod handles for my pocket 4K but haven’t had a lot of motivation to shoot. Really hoping I test negative so I can start creating again.

Whenever I experience creative burnout I told myself I will just dress like a unicorn bear and make a Godzilla type movie. This is my weapon and waiting for that moment to fight burn out

I get writers block with music all the time, sometimes i just have to take a break from it. A few days, maybe a couple of weeks, sometimes you have too just so you don't get burnt out. When you miss it a little it becomes fun again when getting back into it!
I just take a break and enjoy some other hobbies. Inspiration comes to me at random times so I write those ideas down to build on them later.
I hate liking videos cuz they show up in my list lolz. But I liked this cuz it resonates with me sooooo much

What I do is stop for a while and watch and do stuff. To refresh my mind.
I been feeling like I had a burn out for awhile. Working at a retail job made me feel like I slowly stop filming and editing how I wanted to edited. & then leaving that job to have another job related to photography which that didn't help out as much cause it was my first office job. Now with this stupid covid I had one moment of being creative. But now just feels like I can't go out & film or bring a small vision to life. It honestly sucks. When I was younger I had crazy ideas I always wanted to do & looking at other creative friends work & getting inspired. But now.. I just feel like I been so burnout. Even with soical media. I just feel like soical media has become boring and dull to me 😩

Yes, that's absolutely fine. Building on another persons idea is what most people do.
That's SCAMPER Technique! Substitute, Combine, Adapt , Modify , Put to other use, Eliminate and Reverse. That's fine !
I'm not sure what it is that makes us feel guilty for taking time for ourselves. Personally, whenever I take a break from filmmaking I feel the Film Police are gonna come and take my movie license away.

I still remember when I bought the Osmo X5 pro raw after watching your video. Wah a mistake that was! Couldn't afford a P.C to edit the raw videos 🤣😭. Man your channel is so cool the views definitely don't match the awesomeness!

But, Yeah. I have gone thru real burnout ’cos of working 24/7. I took a little time to recover from it and after that I only do shoots that really Inspire me. That helps me a lot!
As a wedding photographers we talk in Finland about ”photography hangover” when you have been shooting full day wedding and that day after shooting all day is just a pain... like a hangover!
