In this Pride (In The Name Of Love) guitar lesson video, I will show you how to play the Edge's guitar parts to this massive hit by U2
The tuning is standard tuning, E A D G B E.
There is usually a lot going on guitar effects-wise when trying to transcribe a U2 song. The Edge is an absolute master at playing simple riffs through intense effect chains that end up creating a much more complex sound than that simple riff would of otherwise created.
So I will spend some time at the beginning of the lesson talking about how to achieve the tone that the
Edge uses in "Pride (In The Name Of Love)" since without a reasonably close approximation of that tone, the riffs won't sound correct.
After we get the tone issues out of the way, I will take you through every section of the song in the order that each appears on the original recording. The guitar lines themselves are pretty simple, yet highly effective.

The Edge is a master at what he does. People bag on him for being way too simplistic, if that’s how you see him you’re missing the mark. The Edge is a part player- his goal is to serve their songs, he’s not a shredder or a show off. His brilliance is to make U2’s songs more melodic and layered. So judge him for that!
Dang I can’t believe this is the first time you’ve done this. The Edge’s tone tho 👌 Imma be that guy and recommended Stone in Love by Journey. I think it’s Neal Schon’s best work and would love to learn it 🤘
Neal Schon is so underrated, Journey as a whole is.

thanks Carl! the shimmer reverb is very nice. it's easy to play, but it's not - because of his layered tones. I always shied away U2 songs because The Edge made some awesome sounds that I could never seem to reproduce.

Great video. I seen a rig rundown video of The Edge’s great and bought some of the West German made pics. They give a fantastic scratchy tone.
They’re hard to find and pricey. I use Herco Flex 75 picks and they do a similar job.
