I'm going to order the shoulder rest for my violin. 😊 I saw on the site that there is a bow grip that looks interesting but I don't see a video demonstrating it. I especially need a soft pad for my pinky because I have severe neuropathic pain in my fingertips. I've tried putting foam pencil pillows on my bow, but can't get that on in the area where the pinky lands, so I end up having to choke up on the bow to get my pinky on the pad.

My viola is asymmetrical and I had a hard time finding a shoulder rest that would fit but finally did. I need 10 1/4 inches. Will the Efel work with that measurement?
Mr. Houston I have a question, I'm a viola performance major,but one habbit I can't seem to overcome is that I keep playing too close to the fingerboard,the bowing is straight,just too close to the fingerboard...do you think it's a tehnique problem, or is it the set-up? I know this is a difficult question to answer without actually seeing me play, but I'm just trying to get some ideas as to what is going on as my professor doesn't seem to be able to tell me more than to move away from the fingerboard,and sure when I focus on it,I can do it,but it doesn't seem too natural for while actually playing, so that makes me think it has more to do with the set-up than the tehnique,but I'm trying to make sure....
I see! Try feeling the weight of the arm into the string.. And visualize the bow sinking to the BOTTOM of the string. I am thinking it has to do a little with confidence and learning to create a different sound than you may be producing now.. So think of a thick pasty sound for a while.. Then you can get used to a more " bridgy" sound.
