This point is wrong that only category 1 and 2 students are studious. Many times infact most of the times category 3,4,5 students outperform than cat 1 and 2 students. It is upto you to students. Remember competition is high.

One correction : for 9 CGPA, VIT has 0% attendance rule
I agree with you on joining the college only against category 1 or 2 but disagree with you on not joining Chennai, Amaravathi and Bhopal. So many children are studying who I know and the feedback is pretty good especially teaching and placements compared to so many colleges in India. If you have plans to do masters then I agree otherwise placement point of view no other college in India is giving these many opportunities for an average student.

Many / Mostly times cat 3,4,5 are better , multitasking and had higher potential !
And ultimately students are divided on these category systems on the basis of VITEEE Rank which itself dont know the ranking process ! Like 75 %ile student might get 8-9k rank whereas people who scored 90-95 %ile are getting 40-45k ranks so for them they have to enroll in Cat4-5 to get a decent branch !!
So ultimately there is a mix match of crowd in Vit !!

Bro Relaxx... first of all you must participate in Jac delhi as alot of seats are reserved for delhi people in good colleges. First find out what you can get at your rank. Then also go for IPU counselling. (Also it's completely optional but you can got for MP and UP. You'll get great colleges in branches like AI, ece, it .. ) then you might consider the the fees and all... for your rank (if you want cse) you can easily join vit bhopal cse specialization cat1. But in Chennai or vellore you have to go for cat 3,4,5
