I think another huge thing that people don’t mention that will contribute to the box office is the spoiler factor, with Deadpool 1 and 2 I didn’t feel like I had to worry about being spoiled but I do with this one, I feel like I need to see this movie immediately to avoid it being spoiled

No Way Home made more than Infinity War on it's opening so how could this movie be on NWH's level in terms of hype but not Infinity War's?
Got to take into consideration the time of NWH was released during a very strange time during Covid a lot of people wanted to see it in theatres plus it had no real competition D&W will definitely do 140+ I reckon if makes more then 170m I don’t think anyone would complain plus doctor strange 2 did 187m so DP3 could do that number.
Because this is like our first like Avengers X-Men crossover and it's the first rated R movie not only in the MCU but that Disney is okay with releasing. This is a pretty big deal and the movie looks dope

Last night watching The Fall Guy, the trailer for Deadpool 3 came on, afterwards my wife who does not like comic book movies said, I want to see that film, that's one of the reasons that this film will smash a billion dollars, the casual cinema goer will want to see this movie.
AMC did a fan event special for people to buy tickets on the Friday of this film for Dolby cinema at 3:00 and every single AMC Theater so far in New York almost full pack to capacity so that goes to tell you how good this film has been selling tickets they knew what they were doing having them sell at this time to give people a lot more chances I wonder if Regal Entertainment will be doing a special as well I wouldn't be surprised if they did and they should considering that people are packing this place up

In australia near me theyve barely sold any like a few here and there but for spiderman these things were all sold out

Ray is Right! Sometimes it's a chore to rewatch some - MOST of the Marvel Movies, there are only a few that I LOVE to Rewatch!
The ones I find myself rewatching are Winter Soldier and Ragnarok, that's basically it 😅
I know it's under the marvel roof, I'm not coming to see this as a marvel movie, 20th century fox laid the groundwork for this and Marvel had acquired it and have had no choice but to keep it R, I'm watching a Deadpool and Wolverine movie. Unless they introduce more R Rated stuff for Deadpool to play in, they are just going to fall back into their old ways.
John you keep forgetting the 5th reason which is more people now have seen DP and DP2 and love them and now want to see the 3rd one so badly so the fan base has grown too
It might not be unrealistic to say the opening will be somewhere between $160 million - 170 million, especially given inflation since the first Deadpool.

Remember when Spider-Man NWH came out? Every 2-3 days they made box office a main topic to spend 20 minutes discussing each time it just made 5M more or something.

This is definitely not on the excitement level of Infinity War or No Way Home. Those movies, including Endgame, were a special kind of movie. This is also a special kind, but Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine was never as big as the Avengers or any of the Spiderman. Getting all the characters of all the Spiderman movies and all the characters of the Avengers films together is different than only getting Deadpool and Wolverine together.
I can see it’s in a level of hype like NWH just because of Hugh Jackman return and the rumored cameos of Professor X, Magneto, Laura (X-23) and some X-Men but nowhere ner Avengers movies. Still if all what I said ends being true it will hit definitely a 1B on box office.
The real question is which Deadpool 1 will be better. Deadpool (2016) or Deadpool & Wolverine?
If they show another trailer, and it has a Taylor Swift cameo, it'll make over $200 million and it should clear $1 billion total!

Opening weekend at the lowest I reckon 140m at the highest 170m globally depending on word of mouth 1.1B definitely.
@georgeclarke3042 If Swift is in the marketing or if they keep it a secret, and the word of mouth from the opening night says she's in it, they will run to the theaters that weekend. I guarantee theaters will add screens/shows that opening weekend.

@_TheViewer_ well, how can I argue what a good movie will be with any form of credibility if I'm not a creator of movies? My comment says all I mean, the fans want a marvel film that goes as hard as the stuff before no way home.
I could clearly state that Bob Chapek is the reason why the Marcel product fell. But there is no credible argument I can make as only a fan besides stating that the fans of the MCU pre phase 4, got a completely different product after Phase 4. So ya, go back to more serious storytelling that is more interconnected and justifies the characters and plot points. Bam you happy?

It's hard to equate it. This is a R rated movie. Pre-sales won't be bigger than a PG13 Endgame for example. However, it definitely tracks positive to reach 1 billion or close to it which would be a record on its own for a movie like this.

That movie was projected to make over 1 billion dollars because it was the first time batman and superman were together in live action but the movie sucked.

It depends on the budget, the IP and the rating. BvS was a pg13 movie with the big three dc characters. Deadpool is r rated, smaller ip and has a smaller budget, so 800m for it would be fantastic. 800m would be just fine for live action spider-man, but great for dr strange 2( dr strange 2 actually made 950m)

What some dont understand is, this is not a Deadpool movie. This is a Wolverine movie. This is an Xmen movie. This is an Avengers movie. This is much more than a Deadpool movie.

On the ticket announcement trailer it says at the end of the”This movie is not yet rated” how do we know it’s actually going to be rated R?
Because there were 10x more F bombs in the 7 minutes of footage they showed us at CinemaCon than is allowed to be in a pg-13 movie. And they've said over and over it's rated R. Also, it's not rated OFFICIALLY yet because the MPA doesn't usually give a rating until a bit closer to the release date... which is still months away.
I'm convinced this movie is making between 250-300 opening weekend.

200 is possible. People are starving for a good Marvel movie. People are starving for mutants in the MCU. And Dr Strange 2 made over 180 w/o great word of mouth. If this movie is good and people are talking about it, 200 will be easy. Definitely not 300 tho.

Years have pasted...this is the 2020's the blush is off the bloom. Marvel/Sony/Disney are no longer the juggernaut it was. We (the die-hard fans) have been burned all too often. DP Three will do well to do 100 mil this season. The world is burning around us...decent homes out of reach..T Rump...tornadoes. The disposable income is not there any longer. I just hope for the best...a decent 2 plus hour movie. Plus the Fall/Christmas slots are all open to speculation. I love me a good movie...but that "Infinity/Endgame" train has left the station.

Just because a few superhero movies do well doesn't mean people aren't tired of the genre. I want to see if they can pull off a film without a ton of cameos and legacy characters/ actors and see how well it does.
I think of superhero more as a theme then a genre. Like yeah nice backdrop but the actual genre is action comedy. This is just opinion so take it how you will.
I’ve been saying this for a long time "superhero fatigue" is not real. When things are good people aren’t tired of things being more good, but then things are bad that’s when you hear "oh, I’m tired". The projects that have been "flopping" are the ones that weren’t well received and that’s when you hear people use that phrase of "superhero fatigue". Nobody used that phrase when Guardians 3 came out or spider-verse, The Batman or even Loki season 2. Just put out great content people will lineup to see it. This isn’t rocket science.

Post-Covid streaming habits have hurt the box office (particularly so for CBMs).
CBMs have had several major misfires in recent years and its damaged the genre.
But SM NWH made almost 2 billion and that was post Covid although yes it was an amazing movie and yes I saw it 9 times in theaters HOWEVER, IF, and that’s a big if, this movie is a massive hit and a great movie like NWH was it will hit the billion easily

I don't see this movie making over a hundred million. Opening weekend if I'm wrong, so be it, but the MCU has had so many misses. I don't see the film making it a billion.
I don't see why this won't make a 100 million. Last year both Ant-Man 3 and GOTG3 made over 100 million. The Marvels was the only major miss in terms of opening and that had a lot of mitigating factors.

Two ofnthe three mcu movies had an opening of over 100m last year. Yes deadpool 3 is r rated, but Deadpool is way more exciting than any mcu movie from last year, maybe more exciting than any movie this year.
