    A note to photographers who have recently purchased this camera. It is important to update the firmware. Many photographers don't update their camera's firmware but with the X T1, it is important to update. The camera prior to Version 4 wasn't that great a camera, the Version 4 update significantly improved problems the camera had. The current and probably last Version is 5.52. How to check what firmware your camera and lens have (the current lens on the camera). With the camera turned off, press the “DISP/BACK” button then while continuing to press the button turn the camera on and the current version of the camera and lens will be displayed on the LCD. Almost all current reviewers of the X T1 purchased in 2022 - 2024 leave this detail out.

    I’ve just begun looking at the XT family of Fujis. These are coming across as the nearest thing to old-skool manual film cameras, which is what I love. Old style controls without the fuss of film chemistry, I’m in heaven. Pity my poor piggy bank when I decide to take the plunge😉

    Single SD card slot, but it is UHS-II. Decent EVF, and decent rear LCD. Viewfinder info can ‘flip’ when the camera is used in vertical orientation, very cool.
    Exposures and colors can get wonky at times, and skin tones can be either really good, or dull and pasty, and the RAWS don't always play well with editors. Yes, I’ve still got my original XT-1 bought on special in 2015, new. The XF23 f/1.4 works great and that combo takes some wicked photos. Focusing not that bad, but not that good either? Take care.

    Yes!! Even though I own the Xt2, Xh1, the 50r and 100s + Leica I still use my XT1 with the original 27mm 2.8 lens. Fits in my pocket, goes everywhere. And the images are gorgeous, and film like -- much nicer IMHO than the XT2 or XH1

    One reason why I am selling my XT-1 now. Because I bought an XT-3! :-) XT-3 has sharper images, but XT-1 are more contrasty and have higher saturation, that is what you perceive as sharper I guess. XT-3 prices are lower than 900 Euros now. I bought one which had a few thousand pictures taken for 725 Euro and another one, which was like brand new (800 pictures taken) for 775 Euros.

    • @PaulTakesPhotos
      @PaulTakesPhotos  Před 3 měsíci +6

      Excellent deal you got :) i have the XT30ii and XT4 which is image quality are pretty much like the XT3. Same AF system, similar sensors and colour rendering. Call me a digital camera romantic but I just love the XT1 and XT2 because they are unique in their own ways. Always felt that Fuji joined the auto focus and modern sharpness club when it released it's XT3. Thanks for your insight and comment though

      You can not trust fuji exif shutter count. Cameras you bought most certainly have more 10k on the shutter.

    • @nickgoogle4525
      @nickgoogle4525 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@Heart0rHead I know that the exif shutter count is not always accurate for several reasons. But when you see that the camera is as new and the settings still have the beep for AF active you know that the camera was not used much ;-) One camera the shutter count was accurate AFAICT. One had lost the shutter count (likely due not having a battery for a longer time -- also a sign that the camera had long rests and was likely not used much. The owner told me how many photos he had on his computer. Multiply that by 2 or 3 (for an amateur doing vacation photos) and you have a good guess of the real shutter count. So I am confident that the cameras where fine and really not used much (first owner in both cases as well).

    I am a huge fan of the X-Trans II sensor, so much so I have sold all my Fujifilm cameras with later sensors apart from my X-T20, keeping the X-T1, X-T2 and X100T. I perceive the X-Trans II to have nicer looking images, especially in colour. As far as individual cameras go, I reckon the X-T1 is the best all round package. It is not too large, it takes a grip and still remains fairly compact, It has the biggest viewfinder and is the easiest to use for manual focus. It remains reasonably priced unlike the X-E2 or 2s. However, I still grab my X-T10 more as I prefer its slightly better AF and smaller form factor.

    • @PaulTakesPhotos
      @PaulTakesPhotos  Před 3 měsíci +1

    Fujifilm or E-M10 Mark II as a first camera? Genuinely, I wanna shoot everything: street, portrait, landscape, but I don't even know what to look into in terms of choosing. Some say full frame is the only way. Now I only do photos on a smartphone and would like to go deeper than that

      Both camera systems are great, id advise you to divide your budget into 3 categories: camera, lens and basic accessories :) biggest difference is that Fuji has apsc sensors and Olympus micro Four thirds sensor. I started on MFT and I still have a Lumix that I use as these cameras rock. Full frame is great but in general cameras and glass are way more expensive and in general a little bit heavier and bigger. I have the XT3, XH1 and i use the Xt1 the most. My 35 1.4 spends alot of time on it. Is there a better combo than that for those special pictures. Also i think the XT1 has a small advantage for high ISO

    • @PaulTakesPhotos
      @PaulTakesPhotos  Před 2 měsíci +1

      It is a very good combo. The xt1 at times is sharper than my XT30II and in low light the iso seems to handle better, probably because the sensor on the XT1 is smaller than the later iterations
