- This is how I process turkey feathers into homemade Fletching. The quills are hand sanded then cut to shape with scissors. Then a homemade Fletching jig is used to attach the feathers to the arrow shaft.

Im glad i watched this video, thanks for making it. I like making my own arrows and was wondering how to make a jig for long fletchings.
Thanks...the arrows I made worked well...good luck
I harvested my first turkey this spring using a bow and arrow. I hate throwing those beautiful feathers away and I was looking for a project that I could do to utilize them. This is the perfect idea! I’d love to hunt using turkey feather arrows.
Awsome
Love this video!
I get alot of satisfaction out if making my own areows, and it relaxes me while I'm doing it.
Me too
Wow!!! That’s the Truist form of making and fletching arrows from feather to fletch.
Thanks...had to improvise.
Very nicely done. I like your simplistic approach and the fact that you didn't use power tools.
thanks...I need for weekend and used what was on hand...am making the same jig out of wood.
Brother, get yourself an exacto knife or a box cutter. A small belt sander if you can afford it. Thanks for sharing your process. I really liked your fletching jig
Looks like they will work great! Good job
thanks
Good job !! Thats ingenuity!!
you are cutting the feather professionally. people burning them.
Thanks
Amazing! You have a homemade fletcher!
Thanks...this was made in a hurry...working on a better one made of wood.
@@americanplayscapes looking forward to your new one!
Well done ,thanks for the video
Thanks
Very useful, thenk you!
Thanks
Gracias por el video muy buen trabajo
Thanks
Great video! How do you make it so the feathers get that spiraling bend shape?
Awesome.
Thanks
Cool video did you make the template out of thick cardbord? It impossible to find in stock fletching templates online
Sweet! Just a tip the feathers youre using are the really thin kind of floppy ones you really want to use the first maybe 6 feathers on the turkey wing then trash the rest. They're alot thicker and stronger
This is true....These feathers were ones that I find while walking in the woods...were not from a turkey kill.
Thanks I'm trying to craft my own arrows
good luck
Awesome work. I have a question is there a specific reason why you use turkey feathers ?
No reason...they are big and ones that I find while walking in the woods.
@@americanplayscapes ah ok thanks for the help
Psa You can use goose feathers too. I have some i took from a Canada i got a few weeks ago.
Does anyone know where I could buy the clamp thing he uses to sand the quill
I just used a piece of tin and folded it then sandwiched it between sticks of wood. Used metal roof flashing.
@@americanplayscapes ohhhh i have metal flashing. Cool
Nice. What glue do you use?
I just used some super glue from dollar store
Use the gell glue type
I have a bunch of turkey feathers.
I like to find them in the woods.
What is that piece called that you have the feather in as you sand it?
Not sure what to call it...it is just a clamp I made by bending a piece of metal roof flashing..to hold the feather without damaging it.
@@americanplayscapes the template you used to trim the feather..did you make or buy that?
@@billmessner8052 I just copied it from a fletching on another arrow and cut it out of cardboard.
@@americanplayscapes nice..thank you!
I just need to hunt 2 wild turkeys 🦃 🦃 and stock up on their feathers
Tru...but any feathers will work...i like turkey the best
