  • I dont read manuals as much as I should. Discovering the 3rd Oscillator has taken the Super 6 to further areas of sound design. In this video I attempt to make a 1 finger Chord, setting each Oscillator to its own note.
Also the LFO 1 waveshapes can also use the Wavetable you select from DDS1. This is something DD2 cannot do!
I did something like this many many years ago on my channel. My how some things never change :)

Its not doing sine, its doing triangle, if its not assigned - to answer your question :) And YES you can use ANY wave you want from DDS 1 (including user waves), and even decide if you want to play that wave through DDS 1 or 2 - you do not have to stick to the same wave on DDS 1 once waveform is copied to lfo 1. IDK how this went unnoticed, this was one of the key selling points, and something that makes S6 almost modular in a way. Not only can you turn your lfo 1 into drone or a tracking audio range oscillator, but also you can "borrow" any sound from DDS 1 including digital wave (hold shift and turn the pot) and then either play with that or go back to lfo mode with complex waveform in lfo range, leading to crazy percussive modulation. Also, delay on lfo 1 allows for crossfading your oscillators - something we have on prophet rev 2, peak/summit and even p10. S6 is a true modern synth legend already - and when I say modular just think - it can play 3 oscillators - or two, with two lfos, or one, with three lfos - you can detach envelope from the filter and make it cycling, reverse, so you get another lfo basically, or single shot modulation source for whatever you want. you can set VCA to follow pre- determined shape and have another envelope free. You can keytrack them both. You can apply recursive modulation if you want, changing the shape of your envelopes. Filter in multimode, delay controls open for modulation, really, the entire thing is totally nuts. I made a mistake when it came out, and thought its just Jupiter 6 knock - off - and I have J6 og, and only later I realized that these are chalk and cheese, except for some inspiration George apparently took from J6 - but they sound completely different. Enjoy your lfo in audible range :). I have only one kind request for George - please implement note modulation on keyboard model.

Wow! Thank you for sharing this information! Once again so many little hidden treasures. All this buried under the shell of what appears to be a simple J6 knockoff with a few extras as you said. Over time as the community shares this info the S6 will become even more sought after.

@@Noise-Maker My Pleasure. I strongly advise you join Super 6/ UDO forum, community is extremely active and George is listening to the feedback - many issues and og solutions were changed to fit users preference, something not many manufacturers do. The clever usage of FPGA technology with analogue signal path allows for many alterations, but the fact main developer and product designer is listening to the feedback and keep improving the product make S6 absolutely stand out even more. I am so happy to have it in my synth collection, I got it early on (sent Iridium back and got S6) and it absolutely has its’ place next to Prophet 10, OB6, Rev2, P12, Matriarch, Pro 2 and 3, plus my set of older synths like J6, Dx7, JV1080, MonoPoly… As far as J6 go, it is a strange synth to start with, so much cross mod as inspiration - we see Black Corporation J8 clone going for the OG sound with some improvements - with S6 OG was just a loose inspiration. I am sure you will enjoy exploring things like variable bandpass filter, detune/vintage mode, tracking pairing on envelopes (you can make them even tighter) and all other crazy things. I will conclude that while it can sound fat and analogue due to the superb signal path design, it can also go sonically and dynamically into territories analogue synths can’t - and not only due to the digital waves, but the modulation too. Cheers.

@@earlsfieldThats a really nice lineup you have. Always wanted the OB6 just never pulled the trigger. Used to have a Rev1 but sold that many moons ago. What is your fav or most used of the bunch? Black Crop is cool but the Super 6 layout and controls are superb. Such a joy to handle. Cheers!!

@@Noise-Maker Uh hard to pick. I guess OB was my go to synth for the long time, but now it is Prophet 10, Super 6, OB6, each with their own duties and sound scape. I heavily use Matriarch in para mode too, with lots of modular stuff. I had Perforumer too btw, i love that format of synths, and almost bought Perkons, but I have Analog Rytm , Machinedrum, Tempest, Tanzbar, Jomox, and bunch of smaller and modular percussion machines around the studio, I cannot justify Perkons. Keep on with great jams mate, I kept this one on repeat on a train for almost an hour lol.

@@earlsfield Love that setup you have! Kinda miss my Rytm. I went for the MPC since it does everything but i feel like i'm using a computer with a different OS. Thank you again for the kind comment. Super cool to know someone has enjoyed this Jam as yourself! Oh and coming back to UDO have you seen the new Gemini? Looks crazy good.

I wonder how close, or far we could get to a MiniMoog mono patch. 🤔 might give it a try. I predicting far
