Your F6 came out good Tony. Good job restraining yourself on the weathering. Like the "THRONE" Hobby Boss passed off as a pilot seat! NICE!

Really nice job Tony! I like how you did the fading/variation on the model. Drew

I built this kit about 8 months ago, I finished up. I loved it I went and bought a detail cockpit kit which helped a lot. Then a lot of extra time detailing the engine and cutting off the flaps to make them fit and look more realistic helps also. But I went crazy and cut several panels open on the body and around the engine to make it look as if they where rebuilding the plane in the field. Came out super. Now I’m trying to find some trucks to use as service vehicles to build to create a more realistic scenic layout. Not sure exactly what trucks to use.

That sounds like a very cool build you have done - would love to see it, if you could share. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

G'day Tony, You've done a great build on this Hellcat. You're research is right, you know how Navies love to get their people cleaning things, all the time; well, same with their aircraft. 90 percent of carrier based aircraft were pretty much spotless and even small bullet battle damage was given not only a patch of any near colour, no, they resprayed the patch to match.
They were such a heavily armed and effective air weapon that they accounted for over 5000 enemy aircraft; a large chunk of that in the Pacific theatre, of course.
I'm going to subscribe and 'ring the bell' so I've got to mention something a tiny bit off putting. You mentioned the issue with the wide cockpit seat and the cockpit being out of scale, 7 times. If I cared about such things I'd still think you mentioned it way too much.
There are individual makers' variations in the same model in the same scale. It happens all the time. I've got a couple of B-17Gs and they are different, same with my three Short Sunderlands; don't even mention the makers' differences in Spitfires and Hurricanes... there were, in reality, so many different variants of these, especially the Spits, that manufacturers think they can churn out these models with multiple structural differences and no one will ever notice.
No one's ever seen my model collection and said, 'Hey, what's happening, why did you make these two aircraft differently?"
Anyway, you've got a new subscriber because you build well and because I like the way you pick the build highlights to show the progression of the kit into a model.
Cheers, and all the best, BH

Hello Tony, Great job, A shame for the cockpit but with the detail you applied it looks really nice, I have the Early version #80338 have not opened it yet hoping it does not have the same problem. Enjoy your videos thanks and keep sharing your talents with us.

Besides that seat it seems to be a very nice kit. Great result on painting and weathering, Tony! :)

It's not Just the Seat - the whole Cockpit AND Canopy are also 25% too big for the scale and it throws the whole "look" of the kit off, especially if you place it next to a good kit like the Hasegawa or an excellent kit like the Eduard..... IMHO it makes it look more like an "Egg-Plane" version.

Hello. Been a long time, don’t recall exactly. At this scale it was probably the “fine” Version vs the “heavy” version. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

Hey Tony...I am starting a Corsair with the tri color scheme. What paints did you use for this?

    • @tcstu90
      @tcstu90  Před 7 lety

Hi Drew, these were Vallejo Model Air paints: White, Intermediate blue, UK Azul PRU. I mixed the three colors in various combinations/ratios to taste for the two shades of blue. Enjoy your Corsair build. Look forward to seeing it!

Tony's Scale Modeling Thanks! I am going to check out my local hobby shop to see if it has them! I checked sprue brothers and Vallejo Model Air now has a US Navy Sea Blue....I love Navy planes!

To me the biggest issue is the angle of the foded wings that is not correct , normaly , once folded , they are almost parallel with the fuselage .They are much too high here.
