      Well let’s start with the bass player John Deacon wrote the song and that great riff. The band didn’t think they should put it out as a single until Michael Jackson persuaded them to. It was the first Queen single to go to number one in the states. The cool sound effects were from Brian’s guitar with a special amp built by John to work with Brian’s custom guitar. Brian built his guitar with his father as a 19 year old, he called it the red special. I would recommend 100% The live aid concert 1985. It is been said to be the best live concert in Rock history.

      @MrVvulf Před rokem +20

      Don't sleep on Brian May, one of the best guitarists to ever play. He built that guitar you hear (with his father's help) when he was 16 years old. The wood is from an old fireplace. The guitar is known as Red Special, and has its own Wikipedia entry.
      He's got a PhD in Astrophysics, and he wrote most of the music and lyrics for the band.
      Freddie had the voice and the spotlight, but he wasn't the only standout in Queen.

    If you’re wondering why this particular song has such a strong bass line and strong percussion throughout It’s because it was written by John Deacon, the bassist for the band. Freddie encouraged him to write and helped him a bit when he started out and he turned out to be one of the band’s strongest writers.

    My favorite is one of those 'hidden gems', as it isn't played as often by reactors - Love of My Life. It's a ballad, but the words are so powerful! Freddy wrote it as a tribute to his former girlfriend / best friend when he heard she was getting married. It really isn't a sad song, more a regret that things between them will forever be changed. The best recording is life from their concert in Rio, I believe. Hope you'll give it a shot soon! Thanks Polo! You must see a version of this - LIVE at Montreal, 1981 - it's GREAT. Queen has a way of adapting their songs to the stage that is just incredible. This is probably one of the most recognizable bass lines ever written....John Deacon, the fantastic (shy, humble) bassist for Queen for 20+ years wrote this song...Brian May on guitar and John on his bass are on FIRE!
    Another song with yet another incredible, well known bass line is "Under Pressure" written by Queen and David Bowie when at Queen's studios in Montreux, Switzerland. See QUEEN perform it LIVE at Wembley, 1986. (There is another poorly edited version of the song with David Bowie supposedly singing with Freddie...I don't recommend it because David never performed this song with Freddie on stage.)
    Welcome to the deep well of QUEEN! Enjoy the plunge...Queen fans will be listening!
    (NOTE: The band, Vanilla Ice, used the Under Pressure bass line without giving credit...the moral of that story is - don't steal from Queen or David Bowie unless you have VERY deep pockets. LOL)
    Queen wasn't considering "Another One Bites the Dust" as a single, but I've seen interviews with Freddie that Michael Jackson, who had seen them perform in Los Angelos and became good friends with the band, told them to release it as a single. It was just one of their many #1 hits. (Freddie did a number of tracks with Michael...but touring schedules in different parts of the world got in the way of them completing a track together...If they still exist, I would love to hear those tracks!)

    Other Queen suggestions:
    A Night at the Opera” is a phenomenal album. There’s a song on there called “Death on Two Legs”, it’s about a former manager who was stealing from them and Freddie was absolutely vicious in the song. Brian May said that he actually felt guilty playing it live. There’s another song on that album called “I’m in love with my car” that was written by Roger Taylor (the drummer). He sings lead while playing drums, and the live version is definitely worth watching. Queen 2 (their second album) has insane production on it, and it’s a good look at their early stuff. Hope these help. 👍

    I saw this band in the 70s cause I was a teenager in the 70s. The performance the band you just can’t imagine but at least people get to see it on video. They were amazing, he was amazing.

    The musicianship in the band was incredibly high! Each member was amazing on their respective instruments! Hard to select a favourite Queen song but I love We are the champions, We will rock you, Stone cold crazy, Sheer heart attack, Spread your wings.

    2 short gems from Queen: Seaside Rendezvous and Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon. I love playing drums to both of these, awesome energy.

    Metalhead here but definitely Queen is one of my favorite bands!
    Try to react to their song Innuendo from the album with the same name.

      As a metal head, I assume you know Metallica? You may already know their Grammy winning song, Stone Cold Crazy, is a Queen cover.. (Queen did it better.)

    John Deacon was an excellent bass player, it’s a great loss that he retired in 97. He was the secret weapon of the band, he didn’t write many songs, but they all are great. Freddie really enjoyed to sing this number and he wanted to match John's imagination so much that he sang until his vocal cords started to bleed during the recording process. Please, check out Fat Bottomed Girl at Milton Keynes 82.
