Calling PM Narendra Modi a demanding boss, Jaishankar said that India needs a PM like him to make sound governance decisions and push the limits of the ministers to do their best.

I am glad that finally India has got competent people in the right places to the run the country. The road is still rough and there are so many challenges now then before and that is why we need politicians who can make the tough decisions. Before BJP and Modi came to power, India was run like a private Gandhi Ltd company with the leftovers for the Congress Party members: similar to the way Pakistan is run now by the Bhuttos. All I can say is that democracy like India needs a good opposition to make the government accountable but they at the moment they cannot do it if it is run by a family instead of neutral and competent members of the Congress Party.
It's not just about education. Manmohan Singh was highly educated, u need to be bold and competent, you need to have personality to stand for yourself cause you are representing a country not just any political party. Nationalist mindset to look for interest of your country first must be there in this era of geopolitics.
Education just doesn't instill sensibility and intelligence and diplomacy which is useful for the country.. he is truly a gem picked and placed at the right space..🥳 some people are just too good.. educated or not

Seedhi baat , no bakwaas .Precise and too the point always Dr Jaishankar. Having a former foreign diplomat as the FM is one of the best decisions the current govt made. I also really appreciate Mr Jaishankar for not indulging sycophancy unlike some of his other colleagues and for keeping his praises for the PM to the point.

But please note that same 'puppet PM" saved us in 1991 along with the then PM PVNRao from going down the drain. In May 1991, we had forex for just 15 days imports and ships bearing diesel to India were contacted by their owners on the high seas to alter their destination as India would not be able to pay them. If that had continued , we would have had serious shortages of fuels, fertilizers etc leading to hyperinflation and major riots across cities. This was what many journos like Prem Shankar Jha etc reported then. Indians should be eternally grateful to PVNRao-ManmohanSingh-Rangarajan trio for having brought us back from the abyss. For that matter, PVNRao managed a minority government beautifully for one full term without talking too much, but by doing the work that is required, including 'managing' parliamentarians

It feels like dream world when I see so many such inspirational leaders. India was striving since soo many years for such leaders. It's true jub bhagwan detha hai tho chappar faadke detha hai.
As we all know, we succumbed to US pressure earlier on not importing oil from Iran, but today we are not succumbing to Western pressure over purchase of Russian oil. Most Indians feel that Mr Jaishankar is the best advisor and he has made this difference in policy. I personally liked his calling out to Western nations that they use up in an afternoon the oil that India uses over months( and also they still continue to buy from Russia) and so it is not fair on their part to lecture India on this subject
