I actually love Jimins choice to try and create different music than what he has been doing for 10 years. Yes his vocals are insane and as Jimin bias can't get enough of them but Jimin I believe that some of his "Set me free" lyrics are saying to set him free from of expectations. He wants to try everything and I'm loving it.

♦Jimin’s “Set Me Free Pt.2’, it’s everything & more then I could hope for, Jimin’s amazing artistry, his so beyond spectacular,, so mesmerizing, phenomenal performance! The song, Jimin’s vocals, his dancing, the amazing choreography, also the amazing backup dancers, the lyrics he wrote, the music he composed as well as being involved in the production! Jimin was hands on, involved with every facet! No wonder the in-house legendary producer for BigHit Pdogg, who worked with Jimin throughout the whole album, stated that “in 2023 K-pop will be ended by Park Jimin”! Seeing this made me that much more excited, for the full album, Jimin’s “FACE” released on March 24, along with his main song ‘Like Crazy’ MV. Though Jimin’s song ‘Set Me Free Pt.2’, blew me away , meeting all my expectations & then some, I was also not totally surprised, because indeed Jimin is now ‘set free’ from the confines of being part of a group, to now be able to open up full throttle and ‘finally’ be able to release all that he held back for so many yrs! Jimin has been involved in every facet of creating this album! Hands on all the way, perfectionist that he is, including writing lyrics, composing, as well as being heavily involved in production! Jimin’s true, real, inner self will be finally seen in all its raw, authentic, amazing, heartfelt, passionate, emotional, sincere glory! This is aside from Jimin’s full range, hardly ever being shown, aside from high notes, but being finally able to show his full registry, mid range as well as lower registry as well! I’ve always been so frustrated not being able to see as well as hear Jimin’s full capacity of talent. So often not being fully taken advantage of, but that comes with being part of a group, that has every single member having so much talent that it’s been so limiting for Jimin, especially him being so selfless, making a point of having others shine before himself. Now the spotlight will be just on him! Though we’ve seen Jimin’s amazingly spectacular, so mesmerizingly outstanding solo performances before. But now, as Jimin himself, mentioned, he’ll indeed be showing the depth of his raw inner self! Jimin has also said that with all the members now exploring & expressing their own individual talent , it will just make BTS that much stronger when they come back together as a group! In an interview Jimin explained: "I tried to express the grand scale of the song and [the ideas of] determination, passion, and overcoming. “Set me free” means setting myself free, so I thought it was important that I be the one to set myself free - not someone else. In the end, I’m the one who has to set myself free. I would say the song has the energy of a light in the darkness. I wanted to express that kind of picture everyone has in their head - a ray of light coming into the darkness is the only thing you can see. If I had to say specific colors, I’d say black and white."

I don't think he was meaning to dumb down his voice. But he was trying to complete a story that he felt about himself during the pandemic. He felt prisioned because he couldn't do what he liked which was sing to ARMY. And you are not the only one that said that about Kayne. But he was trying to transformed like a butterfly. Listen to his entire album. You'll understand better. His songs "FaceOff", "Like Crazy", "Alone", "Set Me Free" (you heard), "Letter". This was Jimin having to face his feelings during the pandemic, feelings of anger, fear, loneliness, and in the end fixing himself and stop drinking because he had his brothers, the POTD concert and ARMY he had to see again.

@@alphawolfjames9881 yes the songs are meant to be listened to in order, and earlier in the album I believe he referred to "voices in his head he doesn't recognize" so I very much suspect that's the reason for the autotune, eg, in the subtitles at one point there's quotation marks so he's definitely talking to himself at that point in the lyrics.

This album is jimins diary of the pandemic and how he felt, each a chapter and different emotions. The set is like a prison, where the guards can see u but you see nothing..there is an explanation for it on here because jimin explains all the songs in the album..but the album in its entirety is heartbreaking until you get to,this song and he finally sets himself free .. theres a hidden song in this album called the LETTER and you definitely should react to it, it's jimin singing and playing the guitar . It's a sing for jimins fans, and it's only on the album but someone uploaded it on here..

the rest of Jimin’s album ‘FACE’ which was released on March 24 which is best to listen to in order, is an absolute must to react to. The first song on the album “Face-Off”, the song “Alone”, comes right after “Like Crazy”, which has a full English version as well, There is also a ‘hidden’ song “The Letter” which can only be found on the physical album! But there is posted on YT a lyric vid for that as well. BTS has also in the past had hidden songs like “Sea” which just like Jimin’s song “The Letter” was written as a sincere, heartfelt, emotional, tender, caring song he gifted just to army, as a thank you.

To ARMY this video is really amazing. Jimin showcasing that he csn do more than just sing high notes is really good for us to hear. The autotune is a styalistic choice to represent his inner voice, his shadow, whereas the clear voice is his persona (Jungian theory). He is in a panopticon, circular prison. Jimin receives a lot of hate and he is showing his haters and his own inner fears that he has set himself free and will do his own thing despite his own fears and even if the haters come for him. This song is a celebration for ARMY and hopefully for Jimin too. Very meaningful. Also his choreography is stunning.

I'm not sure but at points if felt like you wanted to box Jimin into the type of vocals you love and were familiar with. I think people boxing Jimin is one of the things he is decrying in the lyrics. Not feeling sure how you feel about artistic choices certainly is your right, but doing so because you want an artist to give you more of the same is almost telling that artist who may make novel choices just keep doing the same. Jimin here literally says celebrate the old me but set me free. I think he is talking to the listeners reiterating the line from BTS "Yet to Come" which speaks to a new chapter. Overall a good reaction but hopefully you will become accustomed to member growth showing you unexpected things as they explore their individual artistries.

It can be hard sometimes though. Even if you want them to explore, as human preferences differ, you may just not like where they take it no matter if u feel exploration is ok. I'm personally not accustomed to autotune, so it took me several listens to adjust and actually like that auto tuned 2nd verse beginning. However, I kept going back to the song cos I love the lyrics, the performance art of it all and how it perfectly depicts the emotion associated with the song, the beat, and of course Jimin's voice. How jarring the autotune was for me wasn't enough reason for me not to like the song in its entirety though. The autotune was such a small part of the whole thing.

He's not dumbing it down, he's using the auto-tune artistically to emphasize the "angry" parts in the song. BTS doesn't use auto-tune to dumb down their music. There is always a reason, and they use it in a way that fits the art and the concept they are going for. It's a very small part of the song, and I think it's really well done.
It's totally unrelated to his song, but Jimin wanted to make SUGA's song Set Me Free to be the first part and he would finish it by setting himself free. I love the song by SUGA. I believe that one is on his mixtape D-2

Missed your reactions! The switch up is great! As you know its artistry. How dull it would be if all artists stayed in their lane all the time. Then we would be saying how boring they are. I feel they used the autotune perfectly in this song. You can still here Jimin's beautiful voice throughout the song. The songs on his album FACE are very much in Jimin's style. People who don't follow BTS past the music don't know they can do R&B and Hip Hop very well. BTS started out as a hip hop group. I don't believe this was inspired by Kanye however I could be wrong. Jhope released a song called Mama in 2016 and when he sang it live used a choir in the background and made it sound more R & B. Also ON released in 2020 used a choir from Louisiana as background singers. BTS are very versatile in their music. 💜

There is also ❣Jimin “Like Crazy” Stage Mix as well, from same channel Idol Studio, also with eng subs! They show clips from all Jimin’s equally breathtakingly amazing performances! Equally important is it’s safe to see on YT! Stage mixes are always safer to react to especially since the live performances are all from tv broadcasts, often get removed. All of Jimin’s vocals, his adlibs, amazing higher notes as well as his lower deeper more raspy voice you can hear in all their glory live, also proving that in beginning that is Jimin’s real voice. Autotune is only used in sec part of song, the KBS Music Bank performance is used, for the audio, though the clips are edited from all 3 performances so it can be shown safely since they are from tv broadcast performances.his dancing always so exquisitely breathtakingly spectacular, as well as the the quality of filming, camera work, the backup dancers & choreography equally phenomenally stunning to see,.👍❤‍🔥🔥

He used the different sounds in the voice to tell his story the conflict that was going on in his head while he was depressed and having negative/bad thoughts depressed thoughts in covid it's a his inter fight so that's the reason. Along with the dark black clothing the dancers pushing him and back into the squash towering over him and pointing pointing the accusing finger at him. That all represents who he was feeling. When he was held up by some of the dancers notice the other's scrambling like a horde of Zommie's trying to pull him down again.. Yet as he fll he they all fall and look who's left standing Jimin and the constrast is he's in white he's truimptant he's won the fight he's freed himself of those dark negative thoughts and feeling the inter monologue is over he's won he's free.
Well spotted it does look like a cage caging him in.

You wouldn't appreciate the high notes if all Jimin ever did was high notes. Also, singing in his lower register is rare enough that him doing that is actually the flex - "look at my range" - as well as a stretch for him personally (I have heard from other vocalists that it can be difficult to work on and largely remain in your higher register and then switch to the lower, and vice-versa). This song also exists within an album, and he tries a lot of new things. The whole point of them going solo is to try new things, learn, stretch, so that they can come back to the group as better vocalists, lyricists, artists. So any expectation that he's going to just do what everyone already knows he's good at? Yeah, wasn't the point.
