    Every club has an "away" section, the away section at wrexham holds 1200 fans from the opponents team, and Notts sold out that section, which made for an amazing atmosphere that day.

    So, as someone who played goalkeeper there their entire soccer (I am US) career. Diving in the right direction of a PK is legit. It means you know how to guess where the player is kicking. Saving it is even more amazing. PkKs are basically goals for the shooting of the player, so for GK to dive the right way or even save them is awesome.

    I was personally waiting for this episode of Welcome to Wrexham to come out. One fun fact that I can mention is that Ben Foster, on his podcast, when discussing this penalty save was that he could tell the guy was going to shoot to his right just based on his body language when he placed the ball on the penalty spot and how his body was relative to the ball.

      Another fun fact, I've mostly only seen Ben play in this show and some Sidemen football videos and in the sidemen videos he mentioned this a lot to them and kept telling them how and why he could tell where they were going. Even as someone who doesn't really watch football much I found him explaining how his brain works in those moments as it was happening really quite interesting and entertaining to watch.

    Clubs do have to allocate tickets for away fans. in the Premier League, the away club gets a minimum of 3,000 tickets unless the stadium capacity is less than 30,000, then the home club has to provide at least 10% of their capacity. Not sure what the allocations are in the lower leagues, but its probably similar - about 10% of capacity. Also, away fans are given their own section separate from home fans for security and safety reasons

    After this game, Wrexham had 103 points with 4 matches left and Notts County had 100 points with 3 matches left. The most points Notts County could reach after this match was 109, so Wrexham needed 7 more points from their 4 matches to guarantee promotion (2 wins and a draw).
    Humphrey Ker did make a mistake, the previous record points total in the National League was by Crawley Town in 2010/11 with 105 points. Fleetwood Town’s 103 was the following season when Wrexham finished second with 98 points which was Wrexham’s club record until this season. Having that and still missing out on the title, then losing to Luton in the playoffs was heartbreaking and we really didn’t want another experience like that.
    We were all Phil Parkinson on the touch line today. I don’t think I’ve ever sworn as much at a football match in my life. The constant wrong offside calls by the linesman when we were through on goal, plus Ruben Rodrigues tripping over his own feet leading to the free-kick Notts’ first goal, I was livid at half-time. For the Wrexham players to not let their heads drop and perform like they did in the second half, I can’t praise them enough. The buzz after the final whistle was absolutely immense and unforgettable!

    Hello. Great reaction videos! And: please forgive my bad english. Here some answers. Every Team has to have an amount of tickets for the away fans. your question at 10:53: the guy on the right is a wingback, so he is coming from the outer side and possibly there could be an opposing winger which needs to be covered. normally a centerback should block the shot, or challenge the striker. at the same time the centerbacks must cover other passing lanes to strikers in the mid section... it´s very complex and the decisions must be made in a second. the question why foster is letting the goals in: a football goal is 8 yards wide and 8 feet high. imagine that. it´s not easy for one man (or woman) to cover this. as mentiuoned earlier: goalkeeper is for sure the hardest position to play.

      @danyellfeeley5822 Před 7 měsíci +2

      I cant say for sure, but I have a few ideas. 1) Americans like to win. And on the worldwide stage of football, America are really not even contenders. 2) Americans cant fathom a tie. Again, we are in it to win it. 3) And this is probably the biggest reason, $$$$$!!!! There's not really room for 30 commercial breaks in a football match. So advertisers have no motive to promote US Soccer.

      Actually, the sport has been gaining a lot of support over the last 10 years in the U.S. and Canada. MLS attendance has steadily gone up. Lionel Messi joining Inter Miami has gotten the MLS a lot of attention both in North America and around the world. The Welcome To Wrexham docu-series has helped increase fan interest in the game in the U.S., not just in lower tier English leagues. Of course, American football still claims the lion's share of the professional sports pie and always will.
