  • Philips portable turntable (record player) restoration from the 1970s. It came to a friend of mine from Germany. So I immediately sought for restoration. Great piece. The turntable plays 33, 45, 78 records. Supercool space age design with folding turntable. I tried to keep the originality as much as I could. The restoration of this turntable was great fun for me. I hope you will appreciate the result. If you like my restoration work, don't forget to press "like" button and subscribe to my channel.

    As a retired Audio Engineer I have little experience with the equipment you renovate which is why I find your work so fascinating.
    I enjoy your excellent camera work and comments and attention to detail. As I am now partly disabled I get great enjoyment watching your videos so keep up the good work.
    It would be really good if you could spend a little time letting us hear the restored equipment actually working.

    Nice job there ! I'm more familiar with acousti phonograph restorations, but I've found a new hobby with those funky 70's players so your work helps ! I like they way you did things ; there are some people calling themselves "restorers" who just murder old stuff by scraping off everything and repainting/replating their own way, or overpolishing everything, but you did it just they right way. It looks as close as its original shape ! I know it's not always a loss, but even if an object is in "advanced" shape let's say, like was yours, and might not be irremplacable, I'm the kind to preserve things if they've made it this long in time ! Cheers ! ;)

      Thank you very much for your interest and comments. I try to approach the subject of restoration just like you. I think it is very close to the original and it is necessary to deal with the object without covering the traces of the past or completely destroying it. So your comments made me very happy. Many people don't think so. Too much renewal, I think, also reduces the value of the object. Thanks again and cheers! :)

Just what i needed to fix the turn off mechanism in it, the steel rod wasn't able to push the other steel rod which was the trigger far enough, so had to use whatever i found useful to stiffen it up a little. Kinda weird, found a match laying around inside it.

    How did you repair the pickup? In these times it was a crystal pickup, salt crystal what ages, later they replaced it by ceramic piezoelectric pickups.
    I heard about using the speaker of a greeting card with sound or some transducer from a guitar pickup

    We had a sanyo solid state portable record Player in the seventies and it actually charged the alkaline batteries when used on mains dont know if it was supposed to but it definately did

      Sir Conkers - That would have risked the battery’s exploding/leaking - only rechargeable battery’s should be put into it if you are to power it from the mains, I assume that was before the figure-8 sockets had a switch in them to disconnect the battery’s when plugging it into the mains

    Hi, You did a great job. I have the same model which I am planning to sell but would like to see if it works first. I don't have a power lead. Can you tell me please if it can be connected directly to the mains through the power socket or if a transformer is required?

    • @Restomaniac
      @Restomaniac  Před 3 lety

      Hello, thank you. The European version will work with 220 volts. You should pay attention to this. To test directly without cables, you need to turn on the device and connect. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't have experience in electricity.

    Thanks

      Hello. The pin, which was removed at 06:00, passes through the middle of the broadcast that appears at 06:06. The direction of publication is also what it appears on 06:06. There is no need for the metal part to come out. I also looked at the images I did not use, but I could not find a more detailed image.

    • @Restomaniac
      @Restomaniac  Před 2 lety

      Merhaba. Muhtemelen pas, kir benzeri bir şeyden dolayı üzerine oturduğu mile yapışmıştır. Hatırladığım kadarıyla üzerinde delik olması lazım. O delikten birkaç damla yağ damlatın. On onbeş dakika sonra yavaş yavaş zorlamaya çalışın, çıkacaktır. Alttan tutan bir şey yok çünkü. Plastik örtüsünü çıkarın. Alttaki metalde iki delik göreceksiniz. Parmaklarınızı o deliklere yerleştirerek yukarı doğru çekmeye zorlamak daha iyi olur.

    I have one of theese, the record spins fine but there is no sound from the speaker. Do you know what could be wrong with it?
    I can hear a faint sound if i listen close to the needle.
    Do I need to use both batteries and power cable at the same time? I have only tried to use power cable. All the internal cables look fine. Cant see any leaking condensators.
