- What an amazing treasure hunting adventure! I spent hours snorkeling and metal detecting in the ocean at a very popular swimming area. I managed to find a ton of coins, but I also got onto some older relics. I discovered musket balls from the 1700's, probably lost by pirates! I found old coins too! Come along with me as I discover whats hidden beneath the sand.

Hey, I have the Mark II as well. Pretty good machine, giving you the chance to go where a lot of detectors can't and at a reasonable cost. Found me three rings today, though two were costume... Tip - May want to use a weight belt if in shallow water and don't need to tread. Makes it easier to stay at depth to fan.

Clayton County Iowa History Hound isn't Clayton county in Georgia?
There is one there and also in Iowa. Not near the same population lol. Clayton County Iowa is in North East Iowa and borders the Mississippi River.
Georgia detecting Iowa and Georgia both have them.

The nails you found that were brass are made out of brass because they don't rust very easily in saltwater. Lotsa old ships used to use them.

I don't know when the last time I heard of anyone medal detecting under water. That's a good idea where your likely to find something since nobody been there with a detected before.

My neigbour is a stick swinger. Caught up with him this afternoon and we played with my old compass 6. Turns out the problem wasn't me but the detector. I've been using it to find iron in logs before I milled them and it does that job just fine. But I couldn't get it to work for anything else. Well neither could my neighbour. So if I'm going to detect I need to lay out some money.

Brass screws and nails are used for the boats as they are rust proof.
