I had a 1.7 gpa in high school with no motivation to learn, I’m now in a community college working my ass off everyday trying to be better than anyone who doubts me. We can do this
You got this Dr. Reyes
Good for you my friend
Nurse Reyes😂
How’d it go
You’re gonna crush it
You really don't need to be smart.
1. always have long term goals to keep you going
2. Be enthusiastic and humble about your knowledge, even if you get straight A's, no one is perfect.
3. Be hungry to learn, even if that makes you ask a doctor you dislike to help you. make those sacrifices
4. CONSISTENCY !!!!, you cant do well in one semester and stop, keep moving
5. know you weaknesses and accept the fact that you need to work on them, hey its okay everyone struggles in some subjects.
My MCAT is very soon .. wish me luck
and good of luck to everyone
;3 Good luck and hope you ace your MCAT.
Good luck!!!!!🍀
Did you pass?
@@RedditNovelties I forgot i posted this comment XD but yeah i passed thank you for asking. wishing you the best ;D
;3 I'm so happy to hear that!! I start college next month as a pre med! I'm super excited about the journey ahead!!
It still says MD on your degree whether you’re 1st or last in your class.
True!
That's all that matters!!
Michael S you better speak that shit
@My 2 Cents right , but there's benchmark usually.
Thank you brother, I am starting emt I want to jump into paramedic then do nursing.
As a med student I believe You don’t need to be smart you just need to plan ahead.
Hi can u expound on this. I need help with my academic planning
That's true I agree with you .
Patients will suffer.
Thank you my brother.
The MCAT physics and math sections are too easy. Most of biological and physiological courses are memorization based, not much critical thinking. That is why math majors have the highest acceptance rates to medical schools, the smart doctors are more likely to come from there.
Doctors don't need to be smart , all they need is the ability to Save a HUGE amount of information in their brains.
I've always considered myself to be entirely untalented, but I work hard and I kick ass. You gotta nail it by trying hard, and everyone has the ability to do that.
Absolutely!
Humam Slayer it’s so intimidating though
How do you retain all the information though it’s so much to take in
They need to be book smart, and be readily apply these info in real life. It's like trade school but more intense on reading and rote memorizing volume after volumes of facts. Other than that, doctors aren't "smart" in other facets of life.
This video almost made me cry. Despite not having good grades on college and probably almost having to repeat some classes like Anatomy and Histology, I will prevail.
Update?
All of the basics subject are very difficult, don't worry
Waiting the update
We want the Update
If you people truly understood how powerful this is. I have to study something 3 times more than my peers and I study around 4 hours a day. And that alone was enough to get me to medical school even without a high GPA
thanks for this
4 hours a day? i would consider you smart than i have to study 4 hours for what would take others one hour i am studying 9 hours a day...
A friend of mine sits through the lectures and just gets the concept.
Me not so much. I have to re-watch and study.
OxyElite some people are just gifted
Yup, everybody learns differently
@@Stoneface_ looking at those that have it easier is only going to make your journey harder. Work on yourself and how you can improve! :D
I'm going to become a doctor!
You can do it!
why ?
Ονομα επίθετο why not?
You can do it!
Enjoy the journey update us when you graduate good luck
Hi Dr Webb! I hope you'll be able to read my story. It's my 18th birthday and I attended my first class at medical school today...I'm in a huge class of about 250 people and the lecturer asked for someone to come to the front and answer a question based on what we just learnt about at the end of the lecture...The class seemed quiet and intimidated, it seemed no one understood much about the lesson, myself included. I gathered the courage and got up to answer the question. My heart was racing but I tried and failed miserably... The class laughed at me but I wasn't embarrassed. I felt better...The lecturer told me to see him after the lecture was over and he applauded my courage. I'll go on with this kind of mentality for the rest of my days. You inspire me, Doc🙌🏾
I flunked out of University of Tennessee Knoxville (university) then community college out of my hometown, twice out of rehab before age 24. I decided I had no other options in my life so I enrolled into medical school at a Russian university. Two other Americans were there but they left after a few months. I’m now a 4th year medical student who got a 260+ on USMLE step 1. I passed all preclinical courses and didn’t give up even when people were telling me you would never pass anatomy and physiology. Guess what I did. Don’t listen to people that bring you down. I networked with a local community hospital where I live and they told me I would have a good chance of matching into their residency program. All those people who told me I would not make it in college :) just don’t give up and keep moving forward
I've wanted to be a doctor my entire life. I have disabilities that have caused me to basically live in the hospital. I spent most of my life there. My family has been telling me that it's impossible and that i am beyond not small enough But I am deterrent to reach my goals
If you can go to school, you can do it, dont listen to your parents thats just looser mentality, commit and grind and shoot for the stars cause why tf not
Being passionate and going the extra mile will help you a lot!
Emotional intelligence is also an important component for a physician to have; the ability to listen and empathize through effective communication with clients. Congratulations and best wishes to you!
not also, that is infact the most important I would say
I wish you were around when I was younger. My mother told me I wasn't smart enough to be a pediatrician and I fell for it. I realized it was my mother's insecurities not me. I long since forgave her. I am a FNP working in Primary Care, I love it, but I would be lying if I said I didn't have any regrets. I admire anyone who pursues their goals despite the naysayers! You have to pressed forward. I make it a point to uplift my adolescent patients when they doubt themselves, in fact I will referr them to your platform. You are a true gift, Dr. Webb.
Thank you! Yes, def they need to see stuff like this. Everything happens for a reason. I’m sure you are still able to make a difference regardless:)
You can still go to med school! Girl it's not too late! I know several people who did it much later in life. One is a DO and is in her 50s and just starting residency. The other is a MD in her late 40s and just finished residency.
you're right; it's not about comparing yourself to other people, but comparing your present self to your past self. It's you who has to improve, not the other people!
Man, you are so humble and the wisdom you give is so beneficial to the audience that watches your channel. I hope you continue to spread the positivity in the future and a BIG congratulations on finishing your residency. I am applying to CRNA school this year and will be hoping for the best!
Thanks! I appreciate it. Good luck in CRNA school. Its a great field. Here are some videos about the CRNA field here including 2 videos showing what's it like to be in CRNA school. Enjoy!

I cant quite express how much this video was geared for me. I've always had an exceptional work ethic but I see people that read one book and instantly remember everything from it. That isn't me. Thank you deeply for making this video. I'm 29 years old and a veteran and I'm going to make this my goal.. thank you.
I really like how humble you are and I feel like this could apply to many other fields as well. Thank you for the great message!
Your experience reminds me so much of myself. I can’t wait to come back in a few years and share my journey with you. I’ve been binge watching your videos like a new season of stranger things. From a 25 year old black from Memphis, thank you for everything you’ve done to assist other M.D hopefuls🙏🏾
Thank you so much for posting this video. I'm currently feeling very discouraged from chemistry and I was slowly losing hope on becoming a doctor but this truly gave me the boost I needed!
I am a Kuwaiti doctor that just graduated from med school in Ireland and I know that the system in the states differs drastically from ours. Just wanted to let everyone here know that nothing comes easy at all, however NOTHING is impossible. Nothing. I do however think everyone needs a certain level of brains to qualify though obviously you don't need to be a genius. I am far from being one and don't consider myself to be super smart but I'm not "eh" either *I hope*. Bottom line is, if you're super smart, you'll be studying less than your peers, if you're of average intelligence, you'll have to compensate with extra studying. Both routes will get you where you need to be. Best of luck to everyone reading this, dream big. ❤️
Thank you for your encouragment Dr. Webb! I needed to hear this!
I was just thinking about this! So grateful to hear your message. Keep the vids coming Dr Webb.
No problem! I’m glad the video helps. Thanks for watching!
I am a nursing student and want to be a great nurse, and this video has helped me so much gain hope and positivity! thank you!!
Love these vids doc! I messed up my first year gpa really badly , but I'm never gonna quit until my last breath. Thank you for inspiring me, I'll always remember the line you said about 'out working everyone else', for life. Thank you 💪😀
I messed up by taking college classes as a high school student, I got a 3.24 average. I D+'ed gen Chem 2. I'm going back this coming fall to retake and ace every single class. We're all gonna make it if we work hard.
Jupiter . Hell yeah, failing isn't an option. Don't care how long it takes , one day we'll make it 💪
Thank you! I am a non traditional student out of the military and I have found i have to study and work so much harder to be competitive. This is my dream and I will never give up. Thank you again for your motivation.
Love your videos great inspiration. You give hope to the hopeless. God bless and more grace to your elbow.
Thanks!
I thought I was too old (20) to drop out of business school to go to med school but I'm doing it. I owe it to me.
I had a classmate who started at 27 and he's now doing well for himself. Everyone's schedule is different. All the best. :)
Thank You for the very encouraging insight on medical doctors.
Greetings all the way from Papua New Guinea dearest doctor. Ill always appreciate you. Ill come back and comment when i enter medical school.

I have no science background but I’m going to be a doctor and persist through!! Your videos give me hope in comparison to other channels. Thank you , grit and working for it will win in life 🙏
So thankful for this video. I am in my first year of college and struggling with mental health. This has caused me to not perform well in my classes. I get really down on myself for not being ‘smart enough’ but this video is really reassuring. Thank You!
my mental health has gotten to a point where my dreams and aspirations have disappeared right before me, I have no motivation whatsoever- I just want to sleep the all the time. I'm in second year premed :( . There's no way I'm failing the year though. I hope you overcome your struggles.
true i got accepted into my business program for accounting but i feel like i want more. knowing that i could have the chance of being anything .. doctor, engineer, lawyer, nurse or whatever. my mental health and social anxiety has driven me away from stem majors

Never give an institute made up of bricks or Test paper made up of wood or college professors(made up of ego) or Negative people Any Power over u.
U are More than what u think u are.Our capabilities are infinite,we just need to keep a positive mindset, exercise, eat a wholePlant based Vegan diet, medidate a lil, divide our studying course into chunks, watch videos on it to understand it,use Anki software to memorise it and Do Alot of practise questions to apply that info.
The winner is not one who crosses the finishing line in a race, but the one who gets back on his feet after falling multiple times on the racing track and manages to finish the race.
Change ur studying resources or ur technique and stay persistent in ur hardwork.
As far as social anxiety is concerned, donnot be scared of people.People are just specks of dust who can talk and do chores. They shouldnt be treated like some Higher powers.
At the end of the day,our happiness comes first and for that we shouldnt give power to anything or anyone over us
Thank you for this video. And all the encouragement you give. Appreciate it
No problem! I’m glad the video helps. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the words of encouragement. This is so true we all can do it but for some of us we just have to study harder.

Hey Dr. Webb! For a future video can you talk about your high school and college life socially and academically? I’m a high school senior who’s not doing too good academically. Subscribed. Dr. Webb, you’re the GOAT.
Thanks! Welcome to the channel 🙏🏾
Thanks for this video, doc! Been juggling between becoming a doctor or nurse lately, and I guess I don't have to keep juggling those two options anymore! 😄
Thank you sir. I'm not aiming to be a doctor, but in my goal to graduate I have realized that habits and repitition, and broken up, consistent practice goes a long way. When I get tired, I let myself rest, but dedicate to finish what I was doing, before I would just be lazy, but not anymore. I realize life has no dress rehearsals, and I have 1 shot. Cramming won't save me, repitition and a steady rhythm will.
Dr Antonio, you inspire me a lot. God bless you
Thanks Daniel!
This applies to a lot of things, including being a computer programmer. It just takes hard work, but sometimes learning from the right material. Some material, some teachers are not good.
I am happy you got into spine surgery. It is possible to 'learn' perseverance. People sometimes believe they don't have it.
One teacher I had gave me a precious jewel. When studying, don't waste time on stuff you already know. It takes repetition to learn new things, but going over stuff you already have down is a serious waste of precious time.
You are so inspiring thank you for your videos
Thank you for sharing I really want to go to med school after finishing nursing school
Love you for this video 💗💗💗💗
my friend is in med (im trying) and she has told me of all the entitled people who went straight into med from high school (unlike America, Australia has the option of going straight into med from high school without doing premed courses). she said all the MD applicants (those who completed an undergrad at college before applying for med school) are WAY better in terms of attitude and being humble. I think the med undergrad option should not exist. Even if a 17yr old is smart enough academically to get into med, they should have at least 3 years experience in the real world before going into a career that heavy and where they are responsible for peoples lives.
Always had such admiration for doctors the human body and mind is something to behold
Thank you, doctor
Dr. Webb, I understand the nature of studying to get into med school. My question for you is if you believe persistence pays off at work? The competition in school and now at my work is never ending. I think medicine is to help people in need and so are we many times. Thank you for being encouraging!!
Really needed this, I want to become an anesthesiologist and I look up and do research on what it takes, I really want to peruse that but I feel like I’m not smart enough and I won’t be able to make it. But thank you so much for this video! I WILL be an anesthesiologist, lords will 💗
Thank you so much for this , I am preparing to go back to school and finish a degree in medicine. This is inspiration
Im starting my premed route towards Dentistry. Ive been in the field for 12 years and now its time to do it. Im doing it despite many people doubting me. Im talented, persistent and a very hard worker. I just need to believe in myself a little more and find a support system!
