  • The thesis project that I had undertaken is Kaon Vrijan, a Buddhist Spiritual Rejuvenation center in Mcleodganj, Upper dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.
Kaon means- koan is a puzzle that Zen Buddhists use during meditation to help them unravel greater truths about the world and about themselves and vrijan means he dwelling of a hermit.
The intent of the project was to explore an interjection between architecture and spiritual well being fused with cultural assimilation of tibet and himachal. Attempts were made to explore the concepts of verncular architecture, thereby inducing a strong sense of local character and identity in the project so that they are in sync with each other.
    “spirituality becomes strucutre.”
Also, an attempt was made to create a dialogue between senses and built forms to divert attention from the visually dominating nature of architecture by the interplay of spatial volumes, light, material, form and variety in architecture.
“cosmic power cannot be seen, it can only be felt.”
