A bone graft is a procedure to regenerate bone where it´s missing, to allow a correct dental implant placement. After a dental extraction, if the alveolus is not preserved or an implant is not placed immediately, the dental bone will be remodeled little by little, compromising in the future the placement of an implant in a correct way. To treat this problem there are different options, one of which is the realization of a block bone grafting procedure. To do this, small perforations are mode in the bone that will allow a correct vascularization of the graft.
Subsequently, the bone block that can be obtained from the patient himself or be of non-autogenous origin will be fixed in the area. Then, the remaining spaces are filled with particulate biomaterial and the area is covered with a membrane. In order to replace the tooth, temporarily while the graft matures, it is possible to perform a temporary removable denture making sure that it does not press the grafted area. After 4-6 months the bone will have been remodeled and the dental implant placement will be possible. Once the implant is placed, it can be restored immediately if possible, and if not, it’s necessary to allow the implant to integrate correctly into the bone before the crown can be placed on it. Another option to correct this bone defect is to place a biomaterial in a particulate form instead of a block. The procedure will be similar to that followed for a block bone graft. I did bone graft implant same time it took 5 minutes. No pain until novacaine wore off at home at which point one pain .Ed for 4 hours of duration eliminated the pain. Next day felt like I got hit with elbow day before. So minimal stiffness no actual pain I was shocked I watched all the videos and dreaded it all and was little annoyed it took 5 minutes and no pain

Hey I have a missing canine as well due to impacted teeth.what method of treatment did you choose for yourself to get the missing teeth replaced. My dentist suggested either moving all of the teeth from the back to cover up the gap, bridge gap or an implant. Which one is the best

I am searching for bone graft video, I have been through two surgeries now and got implants for two teeths .But I am not happy by the fact that I cannot get implant on the other one as there is a lot of bone loss . My case is critical one due to a car accident .
I write this for those who can not afford it:
In Iran its just 300 dollar, Iran is really beautiful with really kind and hospitable people, since its a very cheep country, you can have an enjoyable journey of 7 days in a 5 star hotel with the best foods and it will be also 300 dollar so all in all(travel cost + dental implant) you pay 600 dollar while the average price in the world is not below 3000 dollar .

I had a bone graft. Was losing tooth due to bone loss. Had cadaver bone transplant, implant and crown in permanent fixation. Three years later I was right back where I started. Lost the implanted tooth due to bone loss. I wish I had questioned my dentist and the endodontist more about outcomes. Looking back it seems obvious that if I lost bone there I would lose it again. So think hard before you take the implant route. I try to forget the money, time and pain I paid.
It’s importante to select the case properly for each technique. And as everything in medicine, results are not always 100% effective, and setbacks can occur.

How long is the healing process before you get the actual implant???
Depending on the type of graft between 3 and 9 months.
I do it myself. You still be numb when the flipper goes in so you don’t feel any discomfort. When the medication wears off it’s just a lil soreness.
Omg and your so right! I finally had both bone grafting done on my laterals, and after the procedure the Doctor put my flipper back in, so when I got home I was so afraid to take it off 😂 because of the soreness.

What happens if you can’t afford a tooth implant
You don't do it and get a prosthetic or partial denture. I did for over 15 years and now regret it. I am going to try implants now but the process is more complicated. I saved years to get it done but my bone has already shrunk.

I have the same case and I consult every dentist till I find an endodontist who want to save my tooth and avoid extraction. He restore my tooth to the finest and it looks and feels natural. It's expensive though but dental implant is more expensive. So think twice.
Jmd Sabeniano I didn’t have an issue with my teeth. It started with a gum infection from 40 years ago with root canals that destroyed the bone so I had to get the teeth removed. Now trying to do implants but you can run into issues that has some large hidden fees.

Hahahhaha i had 2 tooths fall out and they were in the back left of my mouth and i just ate Doritos a few hours ago and now literally my sharp tooth gonna fall out near my 2 tooths and its gonna make me embarrassed smiling and i cant chew on my back right tooth cause it hurts when i chew somone help me i brush my teeth everyday unlike my brother he DOSENT even brush his teeth and his teeth are still in still white still PERFECT

I’m 30 years old and I’m now getting those teeth replaced with dental implants and it’s an expensive journey but well worth it.
