Didn't even know these existed. Will using this device to change the IP adress of an I/O require me to update said I/O adress on its studio 5000 or TIA portal program in order for the new network configuration to work?

Yes. You will have to update the IP address everywhere that is accessing data from the device. This simply reassigns the IP address of the device.
