Let’s be real, they knew why they hired him for Fak and they probably guessed if they could, they’d give someone who’s almost never going to have an opportunity to accept any kind of TV award on that scale a chance. Paid off beautifully
The best, most well written show I’ve seen since early Game of Thrones seasons. All these awards are for season 1, and season 2 is probably better btw! The episodes “Forks” and “Fishes” are 2 of the best pieces of tv I’ve ever seen!
We're gonna be celebrating next year for Season 2 cause believe me, It actually gets better. What an incredible series. (Though I wouldn't categories it as Comedy but what do I know, I'm just an average Joe)
It is even less of a comedy show in season 2. But now that Succession is gone, maybe next year The Bear will have The Balls to compete in the categories it actually belongs to instead of fleeing into comedy categories, tail between its legs, and stealing awards from shows that actually try and succeed to be... ya know... comedic. Love the show as a drama, but receiving emmy awards as a comedy feels fraudulent and unearned to me. They could have just been the 2nd best drama show on air, but now they are just a fraud.

Even drama category winner Succession had more actual funny scenes than the Bear. I could easily tell you five very funny Succession scenes but would have to think very hard to remember even one very funny The Bear scene. Because it is neither comedy, nor dramedy, it is a pure drama.

Thankfully, i found The Bear and ended up being one of my favourite shows that take place in the cooking industry. This Emmy win makes me so excited for the third season aswell as probably another sweep for season 2 next September. Let's roll for that! 😎

The Bear is a shot at the target. Since Netflix's successful Chef's Table, audiences have been asking for a series based on this culinary context. Obviously there were some films that surfed the wave, but nothing in this proportion. I believe that from what I watched in the 2 seasons, the story should have about 5 seasons, with the story well tied together without getting lost and becoming overwhelming.

Home cooking is way better than restaurant food. You can get way better quality ingredients and spend more time perfecting a recipe than any restaurant worker can. The only good thing about restaurants is convenience.

For the comedy category, I feel it's safe to believe a large amount of consideration for the award would go to whether a show is actually... funny. Call me crazy. It is easily underestimated how difficult comedy is to pull off, let alone to stand out from the rest. The other shows in this category were discredited. Comedy again gets the shaft. I agree with a commentor from a different website, "I laughed a lot more during the Sopranos." Now THAT show had a LOT of funny scenes, jokes, and characters; its wit was off the charts. No one thought the Sopranos was a comedy.
