That WM3 match still stands up today very well. Steamboat was my first wrestling hero, and nearly 30 years later, I got to meet him. He's a true class act.

Great Savage impression! The Steamboat/Savage WM3 match is a masterpiece. Both these guys were expert showmen and representatives of their craft. The pacing, the false finishes and the athleticism served to produce an incredible result. Also, the entertaining and over-the-top banter between Monsoon and Ventura provided a memorable soundtrack to this exhibition.

I had to watch this again, and then share it on my Twitter page in honor of Macho Man Randy Savage FINALLY being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame today (it's March 28th, 2015 as I type this).
I wish Randy Savage was here for his WWE Hall of Fame induction. Savage's Induction Speech would've been one for the ages. Maybe the best ever.
And in all honesty-I wish it was this man-Ricky Steamboat-inducting Macho Man. I think the wrestler that you had your greatest wrestling match with should be the wrestler that inducts you into the WWE Hall of Fame. One of those "W's" does stand for WRESTLING after all.
RIP Macho Man. We've never forgotten you.

Macho Man sounds like such a cool and funny guy. Everybody has funny stories about Macho Man. My favorite was Macho Man sweet talking cops out arresting Marty and Shawn Michaels after they got in a fight with each other in a hotel room.
I think it's safe to say those guys that "stole" the show (and rightfully so) knew their place at Wrestlemania 3 and still put on one hell of show knowing themselves that they weren't the ones who put the proverbial asses In the seats for Wrestlemania 3. It was one hell of a delightful match especially at the time given their fued (steamboat & savage)
Many people claim it is the best match and hey there is nothing wrong with that.

Nope, savage vs steamboat is still highly regarded by many as one of true greatest wrestling matches of all time. Hogan couldn’t work a match like that in his dreams.

One of the best matches ever, Savage and Steamboat. Hogan's match was only impressive in that he body slammed the giant.
Hogan and Andre were the attraction, that brought in possibly 90+ thousand people. The great thing about it, the audience were able to watch Steamboat and Savage.

Put it this way , Hogan could of had a great match with Savage like he did over the years but do you really think Steamboat could of had a great match with Andre ??? Give Hulk some credit here !

And if you believe that story, you will believe anything. Wrestlers werent marks like they are now. Like any of them would disrespect Andre the Giant, who went into the match with a broken back and put Hogan over. A much bigger achievement than having a good match. Steamboat only began telling that story when Savage died. When he was alive Steamboat used to say he hated the match because it was all planned out and Savage never spoke to him after. Wrestlers are so full of shit, its shocking.
Anyway, if Hogan had any bitterness or jealously, he'd have put his thumb on Savage. But he didn't he made money with him for years.
Dude, you don't know whether or not he's told this story due to the fact that he's done various interviews, some we don't know about. I mean for one getting feelings over Steamboat and his story of all people, lame as he11, and Steamboat never said he hated the match but that he probably didn't love it as much as everyone or thought they could have had an even better match with a little bit more "on the fly" leeway given towards it. And I've heard about Hogan being a little "Jelly" towards the both of them. He might have not shown it towards them outright but maybe he felt some type of way. Hell I would too given they did have the better match. So sit down quit acting like you know the whole story. Then again maybe you haven't heard this story cause I just saw the vid and I remember Ricky saying something close to this in a shoot audio interview right before he came back to the WWE.
