  • This was a great day flying at the Malvern Hills in the UK. I had over 2 hours in the air but it was very difficult to get high at first, due to a strong inversion. I eventually broke through the inversion and once you were high you could go anywhere. I am still getting used to the glider but I am having some fantastic flight on it already.

    Thanks for the flight Steve. It took me back to my XCing days in the late 70's and early 80's. That is one hell of a machine you have!

    That is one great looking machine Steve. Far and away better than anything I flew in the 80's!

    Nice flying machine and video. I still have my ancient rogallos from the 70”s.

    Loved flying there but hated the carry up. Looked an enjoyable flight.

    Beautiful. What a wonderful glider. Looks much more hi performance than the usual delta wing. What is the L over D?

      Mine is the Atos VR plus and the L/d is published at 20:1

    Hi Steve, great vids. Love your Atos VR, they are an awesome glider. I noticed you were flying with a percentage of flaps engaged. Is this normal or do you use them to slow glider while thermalling?

    • @steveyoung-hanggliding
      @steveyoung-hanggliding  Před 2 lety

      Hi Glenn. You need to have a flaps at the thermalling position when general flying close to the hill. If you have flaps off the glider giver very little bar pressure and rapidly accelerates. Once up and in clear air I often take the flaps off to cruise or have fun. What have the St Brides bay video.

    It looks like you are pulling too much. The bar should be in front of you most of the time. Great glider! I ordered a VRS and asked for wheels like yours but Felix told me that they are no longer supplying them. From where are yours?

      Why did you choose VRS over VR?

    Does that thing have some sort of ailerons on it?? I'm a paraglider guy so don't know anything about these wings.

    What are the flaps / spoilers for ? Are they automatic or manual ?

    • @kevinshort3943
      @kevinshort3943 Před 3 lety +1

      Flaps are for trimming, and are manual. Spoilers are for steering (class 5 isn't wing warping/weight shift), they are attached to the side wires - which would be structural on a Hang glider.
