Julie's singing voice is one of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard! It was so pristine with a crystal clear resonance, and a warm, smooth vibrato even when she ascended into her head voice(listen to her performance of polonaise as a 12 year old girl). But even apart from her timeless contributions to the entertainment industry, she is an extraordinary human being and the U.K. is very blessed to have Julie Andrews as one of their own!
Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies of all time, even now as an adult I watch it over and over again because it reminds me of my childhood. To me, she will always be Mary Poppins.
i grew up loving her because she has the same name as me but then i grew up to find what talent she really has, and what a crime it is that her voice can never be can heard again... there's nothing to hate about this woman... she's iconic, a goddess, so amazingly fantabulous... i love her so much, and i would love to meet my idol someday.

She's got an amazing resume...30 films under her belt, she's performed in several musicals, Goodwill Ambassador to the UN, she promotes children literacy, she won an Oscar for Mary Poppins, she was dubbed "Dame Commander" of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II. She should not feel "slightly undeserving".
Don't forget she helped found Operation America, an organization that received the Nobel Peace Prize. Not many actors or actresses can list THAT on their resume.
I was tearing up and on the edge of full on balling my eyes out when watching this... the first time I watched her films I think was 10 years ago when I was 4 watching the sound of music and sang along like any lil girl wud :P then when I first watched princess diary's I wanted to be just like Julie Andrews lol [a big phase] and now.. when I even imagen meeting her... I cry xD she is truly legendary and when I am older I will def be showing her movies and music to my kids :)
