Iris was the best character ever on soaps. I knew Carmen Duncan had played her in the 80’s but never knew this actress had played her briefly as well. She does a good job, but Beverlee McKinsey was the absolute best. Such an amazing actress, I loved her on GL as well.
I just saw an interview with Beverlee McKinsey and she was speaking about her sick leave and had much praise for her temporary replacement Carole Shelley.
In addition to appearing the great another world. Great casting as always another world Carole had awsome chemistry with vicky and Doug then again the legendary cast of AW always had the best chemistry with whom ever they were paired or had scenes with. But anyway in addition to appearing on the real number 1 soap another world carole also appeared on. All my children. And one life to live. I did see her on the latter show. I believe she played some women who I believe was running a theater company in the early 90s. And of course she did the odd couple . She also appeared as a land lord in a movie with actor crispin Glover of friday the 13th the final chapter fame. But unfortunately I dont remember the film title or understood the storyline except that it was filmed in or was set in New Jersey. It wasn't scary it was a drama or comedy I used to own it on either VHS or dvd. Another world which always had the best casting of all of daytime with the exception of guiding light and as the world turns. Was smart to hire carole as a temporary iris a brilliant move as always by the always brilliant casting and the powers that be over at another world excellent job as always.
this particular Iris just tickles me, its her reactions and her voice that i do like. i also like the original Iris Beverlee Mckinsey as well, they both played the spoiled rich girl very well yet this Iris brings more realistic emotion to the script. she should have won an emmy for her performance of finding out Mac was poisoned by Janice, she said no no it was Rachel that was having the affair as if she had all the facts when they were mostly unfounded allegations, sure Rachel slept with Mitch that one night just to get information as to where they were hiding Mac. now thats true love to go to those extremes to save someone's life yet Iris monopolized on the information once found out.
Interesting. I'm only familiar with Beverly McKinsey and Carmen Duncan's version of Iris. Prefer McKinsey's Iris. Loved her as Alexandra on Guiding Light. Somewhat similar character as Iris, in my opinion. Thanks for the upload.
In an interview in 1982, Beverlee mentioned that, while fooling with curtains in her apartment, she had sustained a fall and had dislocated a portion of her body. Thus, AW had to quickly find a replacement for her and Carole Shelley was brought in.
CS did a great job filling in for BMcK. CD played Iris differently, but to me that makes sense, as years had passed and CD's Iris returned under a different set of circumstances that BMcK's Iris would have been involved with. That, and CD was close in age to VW, so that made for an interesting dynamic. It's a shame DW had died, it would have been interesting to see the Mac/Rachel/Iris triangle play out again going into the 1990s.

Carol Shelley def played more of an Iris Carrington than Carmen Duncan. As much as I loved Duncan. She was the more neurotic Iris than Duncan
