You need to add some "Beans go here" with an arrow pointing down at the hole right above the firebox door and "Give it all the beans!" right next to the regulator lever with a rounded arrow pointing up to make it complete!

With the recent update they added water columns at almost every town, so if you decide to do another cannonball run with the 0-6-0 you can stop and tank up before you make more cursed spaghetti.

The greatest Derail Valley mod at the moment would be to take a whistle from a USATC S100 and use that instead of the S060's current whistle.
Wish I knew how to mod lol.
Even then, the main way to change the whistle is via ZSounds, which still hasn't been updated. I'm sure it's up there as a sort of priority mod though, given how much it was used, but it's gonna need to be rebuilt from the ground up due to Simulator changing how the sounds work

It's a neat little QoL thing to let you know "Yes, taking those 2 jobs from harbour will work in that DE2, if you hurry up and get to the top of the hill before the thunderstorm rolls in because wet rail means no go."

If You didn't already know, You can use the Mouse Wheel to scroll train settings. Increase throttle? *Scroll wheel!* Apply Brakes? *Scroll Wheel!* Turn on Wipers? *Scroll Wheel!* Open and close doors? You guessed it, *Sroll wheel!!!*
You can quite clearly see him using the scroll wheel in the video. The camera isn't moving when he adjusts the levers.
Actually that's almost exclusively how I play! I like the scroll wheel controls.
I keep forgetting the S060's whistle is the equivalent of a kid's birthday noisemaker, it's honestly hilarious, also who spilled all these beans everywhere, we have precious amounts of beans people we can't keep spilling Mach shitfinity beans those are too precious
Goods & Factory Town is my favorite industry set up, quite fun to switch there. I know you can't do it in career mode, but naughty switching is really fun and smooth in simulator with the new UI. The fact that you can disconnect the chain and the air separately allows for quite a bit of flexibility in how you damage -i mean switch out your cars.
Any info about century of steam makes me happy

28:38 That was something I couldn't figure out at first, but when you connect the brake hoses to a locomotive, the headlights just turn off. The switch is still set in the position as if it was on, but the lights don't actually turn on unless the brake hoses are disconnected.
Also, don't fill the boiler too full, as that can cause priming, which is likely the sloshing you've been hearing.

I do enjoy shunting. I enjoy watching Hyce's attempts to shunt moreso. Preparing the 'dunk's and the beans.
So... this is realistic difficulty huh? Now I picture frantic engineers hopping out of their engines and running alongside their trains yelling "Oh no oh no oh no" as they try to slip between and/or under two cars to connect them all while magically not getting run over. How realistic is this depiction? I don't know, but now thanks to Hyce it is canon in my brain.

It looked like the explosives were being slowly damaged by the fire from the flammables next to them until they were damaged enough to go boom. 11:08 it changed to 60% the moment you looked at the plate and to 59% the moment you looked away.

I don't feel bad...at all for how many 060 and dm3 i smoked. I'm still learning how to run the 060. Grabbing dm3,060, and shunting doesn't increase one's deductible. Trying not to blow up the 060 or dm3 at least repairs is only 100 bucks....though hehe gave me a thought of some fireworks fun and destroy a whole rail yard for only 100 bucks. Hyce bud, you're always a laugh!

i love the series as always. and, i also love those kind of shunting jobs, but usually more because, i would have grabbed all the cars i needed and assembled them, *then* put the paper in the machine to get the booklet.

ive noticed if you have shunting cars you can go into the tunnel without a "left the station" penalty
Maybe they have increased the "station zone" size... or switched from checking t the loco to checking the whole train... but wait, I recently took a pick up shunt and hauled away with it from GF to SM, only to then notice it wasn't a freight haul. Rolled back the train all the way and could complete the shunt job still. So I guess they simply dropped the penalty thing completely.
Well done! I can't see the CDO of the ES&D managing to get switching done without _something_ going sideways (or off track, at least). I'm kinda impressed at no cursed spaghetti. Thanks for the fun! :)

I definitely agree on the need for a Zoomy Steamy Boii in game. Perhaps a K4 inspired engine - although if we are going for "Really Zoomy" an NYCRR J3 or the Commodore Vanderbilt might be an even better choice...
if you haven't before and get the chance you have to try this in VR. it really levels up the experience of the game.

It really is fun watching you play Derail Valley especially in hard for more which I knownid never play in so good on you showing some of us what that would be like. Obviously you can't play with kAN with this game but it's still an absolute joy just to watch a gameplay through of this with plenty of kenosha happening. I'll be curious to see what chaos you decide to do in the next episode. Heck maybe you'll try and run the steam engine and DE2 together without multiple unit, now that would be fun to watch.

The reason the explody cars exploded after some time was because the flammable cars sent fire into the explody cars, degrading their vehicle health, and as it hit 0 the explody liquid started pouring (11:08)

34:04 It's great! But I switched resource consumption to 50% and increased resource cost to 200%. And I still have to keep shoveling all day long and the water runs empty real quick. But it's not as bad anymore. I literally ran out of coal still from MF to FF with like 8 or 9 empty cars and had to do the servicing though the fee manager since there's no coal bunker there. Guess they scaled the whole timings down similar to how the world is scaled down. Countering that a little makes it feel better IMHO.

I like the S060 When I do a shunting job I usually let the fire go out. There is enough steam to move around a few cars slowly. I know this is not realistic though since lighting the fire back up would in reality take a long time.

Seeing as it doesn't let you edit your difficulty after you've started using it, you can just bind a "press it on repeat" version of the F key. I did it recently on G Hub (if you're a Logitech guy) and I've forgotten how to do it for Corsair iCue, but either way it means you don't murder your actual revenue-service F key while trying to dash at nonzero speed

Yes, Hyce is a musician and plays with a band that have made the music in his videos.
Who wrote them I'm a bit fuzzy on, but I think that Hyce wrote Smells Like Kenosha (the tune that plays when everything goes tits up), at least amongst those who wrote it.
MickelyMC is the regular editor of Hyce's videos and he times out the different tunes according to what's happening on screen, with special focus on the tits up moments, hence all regular viewers of Hyce can hear when disaster looms and can grab their soda and popcorn or equivalent.
MickelyMC just makes magic happen with the shenanigans that Hyce puts himself, the game and the pieces within through.
Hope I've covered most bases now, and that I provided something useful for you.

I'm as confident as I can be in what I wrote, but hubris is a known issue and regular occurrence on this channel, so more sources would be better.
Another tidbit that popped in, Hyce made some of the sounds and music to the Railroads Online! game when he was connected to the dev team there, but things have been changed, dropped and other shenanigans after he cut ties with the devs.
If you haven't checked Hyce's Professor Hyce Office Hours livestreams yet, or the 3/4 of an idiot series, those are fan favorites but everything here's worthy to watch.
