ASMR gym chalk // dyed blocks SURPRISE + chunks // soft and crunchy // oddly satisfying

so here a little bit of gym chalk chemistry for you all:
the three blue blocks were dyed with the same amount of the same blue dye.
the two "white" blocks are strength shop (notice the buttery soft texture), and something in this formula made the dye turn white on the outside, and be SUPER pigmented on the inside, whereas the most pigmented was easy grip (gritty crunchy texture) didn't penetrate nearly as much..
I can't figure out which one I love most?
the orange one was an old old Cerberus block I dyed ages ago and never used, this was so pretty on the outside, but a on the more crunchy side (not that I mind).

That’s actually pretty cool how it was white on the inside but super blue on the inside ! It almost looked like plain blocks on the outside and then surprise you get a gorgeous bright blue ! Love the crunchy and soft powdery texture 💙🤍🧡

For sure. I just always thought that the dye made the difference on wether the color faded or turned another color, but seems as though it’s the reaction between the additives in chalk and the dye. Interesting

The blue has a white base that is more dense than the colored watery dye. That white cannot penetrate all the way through the chalk like the color can because of its density and viscosity so it sits on the outside - the color and the base essentially separate while being absorbed by the chalk. If you let the bottle sit for awhile you will likely notice the separation and see the white at the bottom because it is so heavy. If you want all of your blocks to come out like that and be more uniform instead of one very white on the outside and dark on the inside and the next a little lighter blue and less white etc..shake the bottle vigorously and repeatedly in between squeezes on the chalk blocks. Quickly putting in the dehydrator helps as well but it will still do this with air drying.

So the the two white ones, the chalk is less dense than the one blue that’s dyed on the outside?

It has little to do with the chalk - it’s all about the dye. If I had to guess I would say the whitest one you dyed first IF you shook the dye up just prior to dying. If you didn’t shake up the dye the whitest one would be the last one you dyed because that white base sits at the bottom of the dye thus is the last liquid out of the bottle. PM me on IG if you want me to show you what I mean if that would help it make sense.

​@@raleighslimeryasmr I dyed them all at the same time in a tub 😅 so I can't see any other explanation than the chalk interacting differently. I even placed them away from any heat to see if that was the reason, since my dehydrator can sometimes bleach reforms/blocks
