In this clip, Chuck D shares his thoughts on Lord Jamar saying that Eminem is a guest in hip-hop. Chuck explained that he believes the arts should be shared, but adds that people should put back into it what they take out. He also spoke about the importance of music to Black culture, which he explained has always been a form of communication, even if they had to communicate in secret. If the single ingredient for Hip Hop was "Black Culture" why didnt Hip Hop originate or begin in Africa? Is Africa not "Black" enough? The reason is because Hip Hop is a lifestyle, not a color. You need New York, You need LA, you need New Orleans....None of which are "Black Culture" You need Synthesizers.....not invented by "Black Culture" You need Pianos not invented by "Black Culture" You need Drum Machines not invented by "Black Culture" You need record players to scratch not invented by "Black Culture" You need 8 tracks and digital recorders not invented by "Black Culture" you need microphones not invented by "Black Culture" you need western music theory not invented by "Black Culture" you need a country where multiple races and ideas join and coexist.....
