Thanks Shane! This is great
Glad to help
Excellent job. I really like your videos!
@@joseneto1530 Thank you, let me know what else you would like to see more of
Thanks for the video Shane!
Is there any easy way to do that with two kinetix 5100 without an additional PLC?
I have 2 servo motors, each one with encoder. Can I use the first kinetix to repeat that encoder signal and receive it in the second kinetix to synchronize?
@@artembritov7381 You can hear them together, not sure what you mean by using the encoder.
Gearing is tying two servos together and can easily have one follow another
Hi Shane i have 2 questions
Do you know if this option is available with the kinetix 3000? &
Some of my more senior controls engineers have highly recommended not using motion direct commands on production equipment (when the equipment is stopped of course) while others have said its a great tool to use and should be used when performing trouble shooting. I'm curious what your opinion might be. I assume those that recommend against do it for safety?
I only use this for troubleshooting and place the motion axis direct commands back to a safe condition after finished troubleshooting.
So I agree that it's best to troubleshoot with motion axis direct commands as long as you are responsible for making sure the machine runs as designed after usage.
And Kinetix 3000 is a trigger based system which is not motion commands in controllogix.
It uses inputs for its control from my memory.
Hi Shane. First of all, I'd like to thank you for your videos. They have saved by butt countless times.
the question I have is Can I use an encoder as the master and gear it to a slave servo. My application used a DC motor and a servo. I need the servo to move approx. .018" per degree of movement of the DC motor.
Is this something you can help me with?
Use the encoder as an axis then use a gear instruction.
I've built a machine that uses an encoder as a master axis then turned it into a virtual axis then geared to it
@@ShaneWelcher Shane I see this is what I have to do. Can you show me how, you tell me if it has a price.
@@fernandomatiasn what?
@@ShaneWelcher How to make a master axis with an encoder and convert it into a virtual axis
@@fernandomatiasn this is not something easy to describe via text.
Sorry but I will have to try to make a video when I have time which right now is very limited
You provide great videos. I'm doing a conversion from kinetix 300 to a k5100. the motionview software is quite different from the knc5100 software and I"m finding a lot of the settings can't be matched from one to the other. Have experience this?
300 is much different
