Lyrics:
I really wanted for her to touch her knees
I really wanted to share forgotten dreams
Go through the motions of loving from a far
And feel as if i'm reaching for the stars
But each drop of hopelessness amounts
To what could be a raging sea
It could be spring time i'd meet her at the gates
If beauty ever comes to those who wait
Castles in the air
If only they were there
Just like a beatnik love affair
Those castles in the air
So let me look into the windows of your soul
Let me make the most of what i'll never know
We'll eat forbidden fruits and sing our favourite songs
And never tell each other we're wrong
Each drop of tenderness you give
Would be another reason why i'd want to live
Would be another chance to sit beneath the stars
And whisper to each other in the dark
Castles in the air
If only they were there
We'd be so free and unaware
Watching castles in the air
Why should a lonely person care
What could a lonely person share
A broken heart is much too hard to remend
Cause beauty never comes to those who wait
Romance is a word
That should be seen but never heard
I don't even know your name
But castles in the air
We were almost there
We almost shared
Castles in the air

The Colourfield so underrated. RIP Terry you beautiful man
Such an underrated 80s song
An absolute classic. Never ages. RIP Terry
Beautiful song. RIP.
Virgins and Philistines is such a fantastic album. 1985 was possibly the last great year for British pop album: New Order's Low Life, Don't Stand Me Down by Dexys and Our Favourite Shop by The Style Council are three that come to mind.
I agree! love them albums Meat is Murder, also a big shout, though i disagree with 1985 been the last great year for pop.....i think there where many great years after that for British music, for example 1986-1997 there where many classics to name afew bands who contributed . The housemartins , the wedding present, the pale saints , Ride, the stone roses , charlatans, mondays, Blur, Carpets ,Oasis, Bluetones,Supergrass, These animal men, Suede,Kingmaker,...but then again..it's only my opinion...and it's all about tastes...so takecare.x

Never ages....the great Terry Hall
I did not know I was such a fan until he passed away. The Spanish iconography, the Picasso memorabilia, all that brings me to the obvious greatness of Terry Hall.
One of my favorite guitar solos and a great album...
I'd forgotten about this track, but it's brilliant! The lyrics are so good ❤️
How TAF has this only got 202 likes as of my commenting here?! What an amazing track. For at any point in time but particularly when it came out as anyone around then and in their 20s/30s (born 60s/70s) can have a resonance with....miss you Terry x
Im now 57 yrs ,and this song I have loved with a passion since the day I heard it ♥️
Most are too busy clicking the two billionth LIKE on Ghost Town to care about tracking down The Colourfield's stuff, let alone his other works. Their loss.
Love the fact that you get the few wee notes from "Thinking of You" in there too (e.g. at 00.42-44")
Brings back memories of my high school days!
Every version of this song is from a different take! The 5-minute full length version is of course great, but the 3:40 album version is more forcefully-performed, and has the most impact.
One can see where Divine Comedy might have been influenced by with quality songs like this. Respect to whomever arranged and produced the Colourfield songs.
sequel tune of windmill of your mind😁
