    Spot on in the end there, DG. People often struggle to comprehend why victims stay, and you summed it up there much better than I can when I try. It's much the same as how victims can often look like the 'crazy' person, or even sometimes the perpetrator, but it is because we are only seeing the victim in their weakest moment, after endless prodding and psychological/physical torture. Not to mention perpetrators often choose their victims *because* they perceive weakness/malleability in them...

He was not nearly as big or as strong as her. My friends and I would go over their house sometimes and most nights would end up with her being locked out of the house, beating the shit out of the door and threatening to kill all of us while we waited for the cops to show up.
      One day he showed up to work with two gashes in the side of his head. He kept telling everyone some kind of lame story, and then eventually we found out that his wife had hit him in the head with a hammer. With the claw end (hence the two gashes).

But by leaving, I was sending bad messages - disrespect, putting up a wall between us, prolonging the argument. And yet, I've read sources that claim that this is "stonewalling" and is very bad, also. My solution? I've been divorced for 15 years and loving it.

      It seems that Johnny develop a "pattern" of "exiting" an argument after having come to an understanding that the fights were "circular", essentially bizarre, with no possible resolution other than just caving to everything that Amber wanted, and essentially becoming Amber's puppy, and punching bag, and often escalated to physical violence by Amber (as well as random acts of violence, without any escalation). There is a difference between stonewalling and stepping away to avoid escalation. Stonewalling is indeed problematic and can even be part of abusive behavior as it’s often passive aggressive and a means of controlling the relationship. Hence its bad reputation. Toxic people blur the lines between that and taking space when it is healthy to de-escalate, and try to accuse someone of the former when it in fact is the latter. Does that make sense? That is what Heard seems to be doing to Depp and sounds like your ex was similar. Glad you don’t have to deal with that anymore.

    • @honigdachs.
      @honigdachs. Před 2 lety +24

      Yeah, she was begging him because she was absolutely genuinely at that particular moment in time. She really meant it when she said that him walking away is pure torture for her and kills her. That's one of her personal issues - fear of abandonment. We don't know where exactly it comes from, but in her mind, even having terrible, never ending arguments is still better than just being left there. By continuing to argue, she is able to hold on to the person. That's probably something she experienced in her childhood home. It's not out of calculated malice, but because she's hurting in that way.
      It can also be argued that a part of Depp somewhat enjoyed these episodes, as he was presumably unable to assert himself aggressively in a direct way, but still his contempt and aggression towards her are palpable in many recordings and text exchanges. So what he does is is this whole "I'm leaving, I'm leaving, I'm gonna go, I don't want you, look I'm leaving" thing, while he continues to STAY and rub it in the whole time. That's what gave him power over her, as opposed to the explosive situations where she was clearly more assertive and dominant than him. She's the exploding grenade type of person, he's the histrionic string puller. That is, again, part of his personality complex - he has the need to withdraw, but the narcissistic part of his injured self wants to be begged and needs people to dangle after him while he's being unapproachable.
      What Depp fans refuse to realize that these two are both damaged individuals that both trigger each other in very effective and unhealthy ways. It's a typical toxic relationship, and they're still not done with it. They're duking it out in public because they separated privately, but they're not done. This is still a love that hurts and that's the reason why Depp filed this trial.

    I have been suffering from massive panic attacks since breaking up with my borderline Personality Disorder ex-girlfriend. I met her at a silent retreat; she was physically stunning and we had some eye contact when the retreat began. Once it was over, she ran to me, hugged and French kissed me. Her first words were "You are my twin flame, followed by trust me, I'm not crazy" As she was so pretty and I was vulnerable, I just went with the flow. There were other aspects of this "deep connection", her manipulative words of being so trustworthy of this "love" that I just dived in too.
    Even though we went back to our own countries, I started dating her long distance; I would go to her country to visit too. Within the first month of our relationship I learned that she had been married and divorced 3 times before aged 28, she had slept with 55 men, most of her relationships had been no longer than 6 months and prior to my b-day within that first 4 weeks, she shared with me that she had an STD. I was so blinded by the LOVE bomb and co-dependency that I ignored all these red flags. The first time I saw her rage was when I went to sleep, she came back to the room and slammed the door while yelling as I didn't wake up to have sex with her. Moreover, she would scream at her cat all the time. Other red flags were the fact that she kept talking online to other guys, didn't mention our relationship to them, etc, etc. Sex was amazing at first but it became strange as time moved on, as if she wasn't there.
    Twice after flying to her country, she declined to see me while replying to my messages with a "we broke up" as I didn't share my flight schedule with her! Months later she had already cheated on me, was always flirting with guys on social media and I learned that she suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder and other mental health issues. She didn't want to go to therapy either nor was she taking any medication. Obviously within our time together, she was suicidal, the highest level of toxic abuse I have ever experienced: physical, emotional, psychological, and overall hell. I have gone back to read some of her WhatsApp messages and they are just truly demonic.

    Also, his 14 year relationship with Vanessa Paradis was SO different than the sham 18 month marriage with Heard. Johnny and Vanessa were friends with similar values and they continue to be friends after they ended their romantic relationship. They were never married but were committed to co-parenting their children together. In my opinion marriage and traditional family life is better on the level of morality (I’m a Christian), but by all evidence that relationship was peaceful and harmonious. I don’t think Johnny became a different person. He knew how to have a give-and-take, respectful relationship. He unfortunately fell in with a predator and had no idea what he was getting into after 14 years of peace with Vanessa. He was blind-sided, I believe.

      True, but in order to get a diagnosis, you have to meet certain criteria for a certain amount of time. People can be depressed but not clinically depressed, they can have anxiety at times, but it’s normal. If it disrupts your life, causes relationship problems, and causes problems with work, then it’s most likely a disorder.

    • @bunille
      @bunille Před 2 lety +4

      Obviously...
      EVERYONE has traits of depression without having it. EVERYONE has traits of NPD without having it. EVERYONE has traits of autism without having it. And so forth. One or a few symptoms vaguely mentioned doesn't mean anything. A lot of people have abandonment issues. Practically everyone can be very angry sometimes. Dissociation is normal when it's a choice, we all do it. All hormonal teenagers have mood swings and unstable relationships. Anyone who doesn't want a stable relationship or is argumentative e.g. fwb obviously won't get one. Humans are very selfish creatures. Anyone who's immature infatuates over people. And so forth.

Still had a tendency to lash out verbally and self righteously at people she deemed "wrong about something" from time to time, and to judge excessively, but the incidents reduced in frequency and she started keeping her hands to herself. Everything she described about BPD and how it manifests in intimate relationships perfectly tracked with Amber's observed behavior so far in this case, and her statements about how the arguments can be cyclical and how disengaging is perceived as a threat lined up so well with Johnny's and the other witness' testimony. Do you really trust his lawyers? His main lawyer Waldman was banned from the court for leaking snippets of a 2 hour audio recording before the court case started. This is also the same guy who texts a friend of Amber at 3 o'clock in the morning and threatens her to have a conversation or they would depose her. He spends 2.5 hours with this person trying to get her to sign a false declaration against Amber. This person said to Amber on a phone call "He's the biggest asshole under the sun....I don't know how you go through this..." This phone call was recorded without her knowing. She did indeed sign a false declaration which was used by Depp's lawyer in the UK case to say that she didn't see any injuries on Amber the day after an assault. On cross examination, she was played this recording, she admitted this phone call, admitted that she was pressured, then admitted that there was redness and puffiness on Amber. Then she hired a lawyer to help her sign another declaration to say that she wasn't pressured. The judge said he was going to dismiss her evidence as unreliable. It is amazing how the UK judge found so many of Depp's witnesses to be unreliable.

    And I also want to add having lived with an abuser for 20 years, men who abuse women don't start in their 50's. If Johnny was an abusive male, he would have a track record. There would be other women from his past relationships who would come forward to collaborate her testimony. Johnny has had many relationships and several of these women have been interviewed and they have all stated that he was never violent towards them and Johnny has consistently used alcohol and drugs since he was very young. I'm not condoning his use, but he didn't start to suddenly drink and use and then become violent. He has used during all of his past relationships and no evidence of violence. That to me is more proof that Amber is a manipulative, shallow, abusive, lying little gold digger. I hope this ruins her career because she deserves it.

    If Amber Heard truly is Borderline then her lashing out at Johnny Depp in the press was predictable. The worst thing a person can do in the eyes of someone who has BPD is to leave them. They are most afraid of abandonment.
    I empathize with Depp. We are the same age and while his upbringing seems to have been substantially more turbulent than mine there are some similarities there too. I never felt the need to self-medicate as he has; nevertheless, I have taken my turn at trying to remain in a dysfunctional marriage. It doesn't work. ... I feel bad for the guy, I really do.

    I'd just like to thank you for making these videos. You've been my go to guy to helping me understand the people in my personal life as well as myself for about a year now. Sometimes I'll watch a video on what can cause a person to act out, it gives me a weird since of calm when I'm dealing with an irrational person. It's nice to know I'm not causing them to act that way. Example, I let a down on her luck woman move in with me because she had cancer and family issues. I realized there was something wrong within a week because she claimed to know celebrities,she was going on a book tour for a book that hadn't been written, she was in the Guinness book of world records, 80s rock videos,she was a twin. On a daily basis she made up crazy stories but oddly she was a good roommate and a good person. I watched a few of your videos, got a general understanding of certain mental illnesses she may have. Then I watched a few videos on how to deal with those mental glitches. I told her I believed she may need counseling for her lying band attention seeking. She moved out on good terms and all was well. BTW she didn't have cancer. It crushed me because I had just finished chemo shortly before we met. Cancer was why I let a stranger move in with me. I wanted to help someone else have a second chance. I did help her just not in the way I thought I would.

    I totally agree with Dr. Grande's assessment and why Johnny decided to file a law suit against her. He knows he will probably not win but at least his side of the story is being revealed. I lived with a man who was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder who was willing to be abusive to gain control when he thought I was going to leave. I endured many years trying to survive for my own reasons. Basically I thought he was going to lose control and kill me and my daughter. He conditioned me for years through systematic emotional, verbal and physical abuse to believe it. When my daughter turned 18 and I knew he could no longer take her, I escaped and left. I know first hand the toxic, destructive behavior and when I started listening to the the tapes of Amber going off the rail at Johnny, I knew exactly what she was about and what Johnny was going through. If I could have overpowered and used violence to fight back against my ex I would have. I had contemplated many times killing him but because of my fear of what would happen to my daughter I didn't do it. I am a totally non violent person never even spanked my daughter but that is what he drove me too. I also tried to retreat when he went into a rage, but he would follow me or not allow me to leave so he could continue his abuse. Borderlines are the most toxic, damaging people to ever engage in a relationship with. In the beginning when I first met him, he did not display his true self but put on a mask of what he thought I wanted him to be. It's all a trick to manipulate and seduce you, It's a trap. And Amber Heard did the same thing to Johnny, To me, she is fortunate that Johnny is not a violent man, because if he were, she would of been beaten by him or perhaps even killed. Borderlines will drive you to the point of insanity almost knowing when to pull back before they drive you over the edge, only to calm down, tell you they love you and then start the process all over again. It is insanity. I feel sorry for Johnny and I'm glad he is suing her so the truth of what she is and what she did to him is being revealed.

JD should have split at the first sign something was wrong, but I guess he loved her and wanted to make it work. Good old fashioned notion. But very few people stick around any more. Life is too short and when someone appears to have psychological problems, it will go untreated and get worse unless that person is committed to getting their personality disorders treated. JD should have surrounded himself with people who cared about him and then listened to them when they gave their opinions.

Whatever JD did to contribute to the demise of his marriage with Paradis, it stands to reason that he would feel like he "lost" her and that incarnation of his family as a result.
