    I normally camp with full hookups, so while using an electric heater and having lots of water build up on the windows etc... try using a cheap AC 7" clip on FAN ($5 to $10) to MOVE the heated air around in the camper. It helps a lot to dry off parts of the camper (and like a ceiling fan, it gets rid of the hot and cold spots).

    Yay a 13ft! I bought a new one last year and picked it up in Backus, MN. I have the bathroom. They are really nice. Love your camper of course :)

    Looks very cold but a beautiful view. Hey, you can make older campers home with a little TLC. Thanks for sharing. 👍

    I use my DC fridge all the time while I am pulling! I like the old access to the fridge vs the new!

    Here's a little hint get a small bit for your drill and drill holes in your tail light lenses to let the water drain out also on any running lights that might be on the trailer that way you'll save from having to replace all that stuff because of condensation or water that also goes for all fifth wheels or campers they all seem to get water in there and an a rust out

    Must be people close by because you are almost whispering. This looks like a great little rig. Get it cleaned up and ALL little things fixed before you go camping and have to rely on those things. Awesome purchase.

    I noticed some condensation on the inside of the windows. I heard that can propose a problem later on. what are your plans for that?

    • @MarkRyanAB
      @MarkRyanAB  Před 4 lety

      I now just crack the window at night and the problem went away. It was below freezing at night then.

    Good finding. You can get a mini dehumidifier to avoid condensation. Good luck 👍🏽

    Couldn’t you run the fridge on 12 volt when driving so the alternator would run it through your 7 pin connector

    I plan on taking my 2 dogs on one week trips to State Parks in Florida...will have AC power so air cond/heating and electrical everything. Pulling with a 4 cylinder Nissan little truck. Is this the right thing for me? Will use the shower/bathroom at the Park. Nice tour of this unit.

    I'm just wondering why you wouldn't want to use the campers water ?? And what u do for showers and bathroom? I kinda figure that part of the purpose of paying for a camper is for water and bathroom ammenities

    • @MarkRyanAB
      @MarkRyanAB  Před 7 lety +4

      I just don't like how difficult it is to clean the fresh water tank. As for the shower and bathroom, i'm used to back country camping and so i'm okay without a shower for a few days and don't mind using a pit toilet. If i'm staying somewhere for a longer period of time i'll make sure the campground has flush toilets and showers.
      I realize that's not for everyone though. :)

    • @jstring
      @jstring Před 7 lety +6

      Mark Ryan you clan flush the fresh water tank with a small amount of plain bleach. Not knowing how large your tank is I don't want to recommend an amount but we use a cup too our 32 gallon fresh water.
      I fill it half full with water, let the taps flow, and then drive it for about five miles to agitate it with lots of stops and starts. Once done drain the tank and then flush all the lines with fresh water for a few minutes to make sure the bleach is out.
      If you don't like the idea of using bleach you can also use peroxide which some people prefer.
      Happy travels!

    • @ravenfeather7087
      @ravenfeather7087 Před 6 lety

      I sometimes use a small amount of bleach in the spring and flush the tank very well. Although that's probably not necessary because I go overboard with winterizing in the fall by filling the system with a potable water antifreeze. And since the antifreeze I use has an odor I thoroughly flush the system with fresh water. To flush the tank I just open the drain valve, stick a hose in the fill port, turn the water to a low flow, and let it run.
      To clear the lines of antifreeze I, with the trailer hooked to shore power and "city" water, I open the grey water discharge valve and open the faucets a little and let it run until the water has no taste or odor. The anti-freeze I use is biodegradable and intended for potable water storage so presents no danger to humans or their environment.
      I have a toilet and shower in mine and really like having the convenience of an indoor toilet and when I'm in the desert ares in the west really appreciate the shower.
      I also do a fair amount of "off grid" camping and there are several types, including portable toilets and portable shower mechanisms and enclosures if you don't want to use the one in the Scamp. Still playing around with that stuff, plus sources of heat other than the heater that comes with the Scamp, and that's part of the fun. As time goes on more and more people are using Scamps and other "campers" to be able to go totally off grid. By using better batteries, solar panels etc. All fun stuff.

  • @ravenfeather7087
    @ravenfeather7087 Před 7 lety

    If you're not using the water tank inside your trailer you should probably be sure it's either entirely dry or add something that will keep stuff from growing in it (mold, bacteria, etc.). A very weak concentration of bleach would probably work.

    • @MarkRyanAB
      @MarkRyanAB  Před 7 lety +4

      Sheaffer it's a 2011 Rav 4 V6 with tow package. It handles fairly well, although trailer brakes would be nice.

    • @nomadchad8243
      @nomadchad8243 Před 6 lety +2

      Hi , Mark is that a Toyota tow package? I'm searching for a Rav6 and OEM tow packages are uber rare.

    • @cameragirlish
      @cameragirlish Před 6 lety

      I found an 07 Rav4 with the 6 cylinder and the pre tow package and 4WD in Denver with 91,000 miles last year. Thinking of the scamp...I have a Little Guy 4 wide now... Those Ravs are hard to find but very nice vehicles once you get one. I looked all over the US for mine. Have you found one yet?

    • @cameragirlish
      @cameragirlish Před 6 lety

      I think 2011 was the last year they made the V6. So you feel like trailer brakes would be helpful? Do you get any sway or any other issues? I'm thinking of trading my Little Guy 4 wide for the Scamp.

    I am sold on the idea\dream of getting a Scamp, however, my main “gripe” about these videos is that no one gives information on the tow weight capacity and horsepower of these small car and SUVs when driving in mountainous terrain.
    Evidently, the Scamp can be towed by anything over the size of a Harley, but little to nothing on the cars’ towing capacity.
