The greatest actor celebrating the greatest director.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Greatest actor?!!!! James Stewart?!!! You should go into comedy.
Yes!!!!
Absolutely❤❤
@@rnw2739 he is one of the greatest actors of all time
top 5 always
@@rnw2739 I wouldn't call him "the greatest" but isn't too far removed from that honor.
ingrid never worked with jimmy but they were pretty good friends in real life. Jimmy was present in a number of life tributes to ingrid..and they were friends since the early time ingrid got her feet set in the us
Alfred has the exact same expression that you'd find on a farmers face while listening to his cows moooo
The man's 78 .. and c.2 years off death, give him a break
lol
@@fergalhughes165 the context of the joke is that hitchcock once said actors are like cattle.....
@@pranavshrivastava6415 bc they moved on the geography of the story. Makes sense lol
The following year James Stewart was to be honoured with an AFI Life Achievement Award.
Jimmy is classic.
He may have been old and sick, but Hitch's acceptance speech, is CLASSIC!!
Sad that Hitchcock didn't get this award earlier rather than when he was old and nearing the end of his life. Truly a great director & ahead of his time.
One of the biggest and most wonderfull directors of all times - my personal tribute to Mister Alfred Hitchcock
1979
Damn. Lord.
American film institute
All we need is YOU!
Damn, that was brilliant!
Jimmy Stewart was the only man in my family to ever pull himself out of poverty. Truly a talented man.
Wow may I ask how you were related?
Someday we'll all be as old and withered as them - let's hope we have some life's work to look back on like them!
Yeah! Thats real!
Our splendid actor Jimmy Stewart. Amazing Alfred Hitchcock. I'd rather hear Jimmy's voice than listen to the London Symphany.
At that time he was very sick and actually defied doctors orders by going. Alma was also very sick at the time, she had recently suffered a stroke.
Who is Alma?
@@dora1980his wife
@@guileniam thank you!
At this stage of his life, Hitchcock was in ill health and I believe that he passed away the following year [1980] with a film called The Long Night in pre-production. Cary Grant, one of the quintessential Hitchcock leading men, remained active, touring in a one man show until his death in 1986. Stewart, who starred in three Hitchcock films, including the now iconic Vertigo, did some of his best film work in those movies.
Rope, with John Dall and Farley Granger
•Rear Window, with Grace Kelly
•The Man Who Knew Too Much, with Doris Day
•Vertigo, with Kim Novak
@@mamatibborscassady9388 John Dall was great performer but he's underrated and he gone too soon..
Ingrid Bergman should have done a movie with the Great James Stewart.
Yeah, pity
@Truthfears Guilty just because
Yeah....they could be a great romantic and comedy film couple
@Truthfears Guilty why?
Ingrid and Grace Kelly for Cary Grant
Al Pacino and him are my favorite actors.
Thanks letting me know about this Zach.
Loved both. Vertigo is one of the greatest movies in history.
Those were the days when actors during their speeches were able tell a substantial anecdote ...
Huge, huge fan of hitchcock and stewart, great duo they were rope, the man who knew too much 1956, rear window, vertigo
Love the chemistry between them
Hitchcock looks thrilled. I've never seen someone so happy before.. 1:25
ty for posting this gem; so great to see these legends; Wish Anthony Hopkins would have been nominated for Hitchcock...thumbs up !
Hitchcock was famous for being expressionless. It was his way.
Pure class
He IS amused, but it's just his humour to look little angry. Just listen his speech, he's very funny and clever.
Legends all around.
Man his voice
All we need is you is such a back handed compliment
Hitchcock's face is priceless
Oh man, look at his face.
Meraviglioso uomo e attore di altissimo talento vero unico Gentleman grazie Jmmj e al bellissimo tributo al grande genio eterno di Hitchcock immensamente immortali per sempre nel mio cuore Thenky
Jimmy Stewart and Cary Grant were two of Hitch’s favorite actors.
The animatronic Jimmy Stewart was also a nice touch.
Here to see Hitchcock's old rotting teeth.
Thanks Zach.
The old Rat king
Lmao I was browsing the comments for this
Too bad you can’t actually see his teeth.
@Cheeky_Hiro Do you remember what video they mentioned this? I was trying to find it at work all day, lol.
@@WorldsWorstBoy It was in their Luigi’s mansion series. I don’t know which episode. But it’s in their recent ‘best of fat dudes’ compilation too though.
@airza It's more complicated than that. Hitch and Stewart had a fine working relationship until the former unfairly pinned Vertigo's box office failure on Stewart, saying that he wasn't attractive enough to attract audiences anymore. That's why he cast Cary Grant in North by Northwest. So, the bad blood between them can't all be blamed on Stewart.
the 70s were amazing
That's just about the best summation of Brando I've ever heard. Bravo!
all we need is you.
@niall29
Just sitting there? Do you realize how old Alfred Hitchcock was at this point?? Besides, Hitch had a face, an accent and an image to uphold. lol.
You do know that Al never won as many awards as he truly deserved, right?
I was alluding to him being the king in the 40s and 50s.
1:23 Jimmy praises hitchcock...
(Hitchcock looks into the void)
I love Alfred's face. "I AM DA MASSTAH!"
its as if they knew hitch would die a year later
in the shot of Hitch after Jimmy said he was articulate he looked anything but articulate
Hitch has one facial expression for every mood.
his voiceeeeee! haha
@TheNepomuk83 Thank you for the correction. My bad.
@SammieB86 1979. Hitch passed on in 1980. He was born in 1900.
No.he was born in 1899
damn Jimmy Stewart looks old in 1979..and he lived to 1998
Greyhollow Stewart died July 2, 1997.
@@APOCALYPSE_X-MEN c mon, give him one more year, why u re so stingy man
At 1:50 there's a face in the crowd blurred.
Why?
That lady at 2:37 looks like a great character, anyone know who she is?
@92af What about the 30s
3:38 his wife Alma is very touched
Smego?
Harvey.
I know Hitchcock was excited but ffs, someone should have told him to calm down
All we need is you. crying...................

Hitch would have made a great Blofeld.
It was recognition all too late for Hitchcock he died a year later
who is the prenter in blue dress?
Ingrid Begman
@SlothGunner its the year before he died - he might not be well
No Sir, he died in 1980.
who is the girl at 2:38 ?
Jimmy Stewart's wife.
My only doubt is. Did Hitchcock hear what Stewart said?
Hitch, didn't make a Hitch! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@Interview1998 I do have to laugh at that, the poor man does look totally out of it. I only hope he got to enjoy his evening.
Oneyplays brought me here. Hitchcock looks like he's actively dying in this.
Because he died one year later. The man was 80 years old and he never won the Oscar although he was nominated many times.
He was becoming very I'll amd his wife just survived a stroke. Once she began to deteriorate he followed soon
He died in 1997
No 1980
I know Alfred Hitchcock Died that year. What i said was that James Stewart Died 1997
@@SwatDBOverlord yes when I was 3 months and all I can say it was honored 90 days.
Same voice!!!!!!!!
HITCHCOCK NOT AMUSED.
Is that Hitch? I thought it was Buster Keaton.
He is too old to smile or have any reaction, in fact he died months after this..
Yeah, 13 months
AzizTastic - It wasn’t that; it was his persona.
Hitch looks like he wants to have Jimmy killed in so many movies that's going on in his mid
Hitch & Stewart's relationship didn't blossom at all. Stewart was promised the North by Northwest role which was finally given to Cary Grant. Stewart also criticised his first Hitch film "Rope" which bombed in the box office. He was also vocal about script problems in "Rear Window". I can see why Hitchcock doesn't look impressed. I think Stewart is swiping him.
He looked a bit bothered or hurt by their rude reminders of what hitch had said or did.
I agree, he does look bothered.
Hitch has been considered as a brilliant person with Asperger's Syndrome, posthumously. That's likely why he's not smiling for the applause.
Who said that Hitchcock had Asperger's? Because he doesn't smile? Why would he? Some people just dont smile, that doesn't mean they are autistic.
*cough* died sadly in '57 and as a consequence not present in the 60's
Hitchcock would have been a formidable poker player. He displayed little emotion, regardless of the accolades given to him.
Stoopid ads
Ingrid Bergman
Hollywood treated him very bad. Why should he be amused?
Yes and they treated him very badly because he was not American.
*COUGH* Humphrey Bogart *COUGH*
I think Hitchcock may have died in his seat but no-one noticed...
Hitchcock dosn't look well
He wasn't .He died the next year.
Mrs. Hitchcock looks less amused than Hitch.
doesnt Hitch know how to smile..
Buster Keaton tried to learn Hitchcock to smile but failed sadly.
I know idiot. But Hitchcock didn't smile much before he was sick.
That's what I thought.
Sick or not, when someone is doing a tribute to you, you can muster a smile.
But I think that just was Hitch's style.
Also, I have to give props to Alma.
She did a lot of work on scripts for Hitch and rarely got credit.
RetroGuy76 truffaut mentioned in his book that hitchcock and his wife alma, were very sick and old at this point. He said that they were there but their heart wasn't there anymore. And you can really see that.
it was part of his public presentation of his self ... he does smike when he gives his thank you speech ...
hitchcock does not look amused
pero que le pasa a Hitchcock???????
Se murió en 1980.
Esto fue en 1979
Maybe that's why he doesn't react. Cause he died in 1976.
Who? Alfred Hitchcock? No he died in 1980
Why is he so miserable lol
Cuz he’s on death’s doorstep
