Hi Michelle, I left a long reply to your response under another video but it never appeared.
I haven’t watched this upload of yours yet but I wanted to comment you are a breath of fresh air in the homeschooling community ! You tackle it full on with a serious attitude and that definitely balances out the fluffy, relaxed homeschooling out there.
I appreciate the fact you stick with a curriculum that is working and showing results! Instead of jumping into different curriculum every year. You take time to gain knowledge yourself with your readings and take whatever you’ve learned and do your best to implement it. You go Momma 🎉

Thank you ❤️ I really appreciate your kind words and encouragement! I’m not sure what happened to your previous comment as it doesn’t show up on my end anywhere 🤷‍♀️

This video is spot on ! Thank you for sharing your homeschooling guidelines and as many have said before it’s refreshing to see someone who also takes school seriously, doesn’t curriculum hop and has discipline. Very encouraging!

Thank you for your video on Pride month! It was greatly appreciated. I am a homeschooling mom of 4. I have homeschooled for 17 years my oldest is in his 2nd year of college. We are secular and inclusive. We have some diversity in our family, including LGBTQ+, that we fully support.

I really appreciate this. I'm not the best at sticking to a routine each day especially with my kids outside of meal times and we will at some point do school. I really like how you talked about your expectations and sharing some small examples. It really helped me put in perspective that I need to implement more structure if I want to accomplish homeschool goals. The only question I have, is what do you do when something pops up that day like a playdate or maybe chores you have to do that can't be moved to another day?

I am a naturally scheduled person but I do allow for flexibility. In my experience play dates and activities tend to happen in the afternoon. Since we’re usually done by 1pm that’s never really been an issue. My oldest does have horses riding Fridays at 9:30 am but that just means she gets her core work (math, ELA) done prior to her riding lesson and when she returns we have lunch and do group work together. As far as chores go I schedule my chores for the morning.
I usually wake up at 7am, as my kids are naturally early risers. That gives me plenty of time to take care of the things I need to do and usually put in a load of laundry. All my kids have chores as well. They have daily chores of cleaning up their toys and putting their laundry away. This is a prerequisite before any electronic time happens. They also have the opportunity to do additional chores to earn an allowance. All 3 of them choose to do that, so honestly that takes a big chunk of the everyday cleaning off my back and allows me the opportunity to focus on larger chores they can’t do. Hope that helps.

This sounds dreamy! I get so much push back and groans. I'm very consistent but it's our first year and I've got 4 kids so maybe it'll take time. 😬

The first year is always rough! It does get easier. Even my most stubborn child sees the examples his older siblings set and that helps motivate him.

Hi I'm a new homeschooler with younger kids and my question is how to set the expectations for myself and my kids.

I think the first step would be to determine what your goals are and then create routines or schedules that support those goals. Younger kids adapt pretty well to structure and routines. My children work best in the morning so I set the homeschool day to start at 9am. All my kids are up naturally by 7am so this gives them plenty of time to have free time before school starts. For me I am mindful of the what I am capable of doing. I know I need teacher prep time so I schedule that in. I know I need self care time so I schedule that in. I go into homeschool with a plan but also allow for the flexibility that things may change.
