- In this episode of The Newshour Debate, host Navika Kumar will discuss how Gita Press, Gorakhpur, will receive the Gandhi Peace Prize in 2021 in honour of its "outstanding contribution towards social, economic, and political transformation through non-violent and other Gandhian methods". Gita Press was congratulated on receiving the award and for its contributions to the industry by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. According to the statement released by the Ministry of Culture, the panel, which was presided over by Prime Minister Modi, unanimously opted to choose Gita Press as the Gandhi Peace Prize winner. After a panel presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi unanimously agreed to grant Gita Press, the Congress launched a full-blown attack on the BJP. In response, the BJP pressed the party to specify if it was "against" Hinduism. Party leader Jairam Ramesh disapproved of the move and referred to the decision to honour Gita Press as a "travesty". Giving Gita Press the Gandhi Peace Prize in 2021 would be equivalent to "awarding Savarkar and Godse," according to veteran Congress leader Jairam Ramesh. We are joined by a few panelists expressing their views on this issue. “They (Congress) have a bias that the Muslim League is secular, whereas the BJP and RSS are communal. Today they crossed all limits by lamenting Gita Press as doubtful and dubious,” stated Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi, BJP.

Is the prize coming out of the personal coffers of the Congress Party? What gives them the right to object? They have given the prize to many non deserving characters.
This prize should not have the Gandhi name attached to it as Gandhi is bringing shame to Indians because of his racist views. Peace prize should be in the name of Savarkar’s elder brother, Ganesh Babarao Savarkar . He spent more time in Kalapani than Veer Savarkar himself. Veer Savarkar’s younger brother , another patriot, was killed by the Congress mob by stoning following Gandhi’s assassination. He also deserves recognition.
