I grew up playing the organ AND piano at the time Nancy Faust was the organist for the White Sox. The organ I played was the Wurlitzer 4400 Model console. It had some of the bells and whistles like Nancy Faust's Hammond - a few percussion effects, couplers, and a multi-manual keyboard and bass pedalboard as well as an expression pedal. But Nancy's organ had much more than that. Percussion arpeggiators and a lot more push button stops than the 4400. Nancy seemed to so-dearly love all types of music that she loved to cover--during the Sox's good and bad seasons. Even when disco was killed off by "Disco Demolition", and discotheques shut down in the 1980s, Nancy still loved to play the disco classics. In the Sox season of 1980 in some of the home games, Nancy's favorite disco song was "Hot Stuff" originally done by Donna Summer, between innings. (She transposed the key from the original G minor to C minor, but that is all right with us.) I thought that you use the organ only for rock and pop and theater, but Nancy's version of "Hot Stuff" told the whole world that you can do disco music on the organ!
And of course, Bill Veeck also added the "exploding scoreboard" to the ballpark with the iconic fireworks. So along with Nancy's great organ playing gifts, it seemed like these people made Comiskey Park a theme park--not just a simple big-league stadium! So Nancy's "organ" and Bill Veeck's "fireworks" seemed to be married to each other. So sad that Comiskey Park has now been razed.

You were so much a part of my childhood but I had the great fortune of seeing you when I was pregnant with my daughter 16 days before I was due.
