As others have said, check out The Hunger (like a lightspeed journey through Hip Hop History), or Losing It (Fisher Rap Retake), in which he raps over EDM). He also has some older songs in which he raps really well (the official video for Blind Eyed - with Sam Tompkins), or Hold On, an older original song that just has a lyric video I believe. He also raps at the end of a busking session with his band (The Big Push - I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop). Amazing performance.
You're right. Ren is a cheat code. He's not a "rapper". He's a "musician, producer, singer, songwriter, rapper". This is my favorite song of his. I don't know if it's his best rap performance but the whole package is just killer.
agreed. ren is one of the best music artists right now. but most of his tracks are not like “songs” i would put in my playlist. it’s more like a musical kinda thing, like theatre. but genesis is definitely my favorite “song” by him. next to “humble” those are for sure playlist material
@mvlpix 44 I mean he has a ton of songs. The Tales trilogy and Hi Ren are the only performance pieces really. Everything off of his Freckled Angels album is traditional "songs" along with most of the stuff from his Demos albums.

illest or the hunger or fisher rap retake are his best rap performances i think, genesis is perhaps better as a SONG, much like power and what you want also don't feature as crazy rapping skills as the aforementioned, but arguably work better as songs.

If you haven't seen The Hunger, you really need to. Dude rapping like a madman. Also, Losing It Fisher Retake... This is an old EDM beat which has just these words "I'm losing it" and Ren added the rest. Effing amazing writing and performance. I think The Hunger and Losing It are my favorite (s).

@@strawhatboys “Losing it” is worth reacting to. It’s a really fun rap flex. Tons of flow switches, doubles, and different schemes in there. It’s a fun song.

This is my favourite of Ren's hip hop stuff but Life is Funny is right up there too.
Ren has a song Heretic which is good obviously but has an anime video to it studio Ghibli style which I assume you would enjoy
It's just a great song in general. I've stopped looking for his best because I can listen and enjoy all of it so far. Even the stuff that I normally wouldn't from other artists.

I think Losing It is his best rap track, rapping over an EDM dance track...it's a club banger.
If your judging it by technical showcasing, The Hunger and the Fisher rap retakes are better. But there is some great word play in this one also.

Hey man, great reaction, great break down, and don't mind the hate it you criticize part of the song, as long as you do it the way I've always seen you do it, when it comes from knowledge of your craft, and you never slam the artist, often you just say, I would have gone a different direction right there, or it could have been done that way...honesty will get you more true subs in the long run, stay true to you.
Not sure how many requests you look over, or who's requesting, but if I know your taste in bars, which I think I do, the Ren song for you is The Hunger. Genesis is dope, no doubt, but if you're looking for 2-1/2 minutes of pure hip-hop rap flexin', The Hunger is your song. Ren switches flow easily 6-7 times, I think when he released the track it was almost like he was making a resume' to the rap world, saying "Ok, everyone keeps saying I can kind of rap, or incorporate it into my songs, but can I really rap?" Then he drops The Hunger. We're talking top tier, hang with any rapper in the game, level rapping. Enjoy. (Don't forget, he makes his own beats)
If you're looking for some more technical pieces, may I suggest Losin' It (Fisher Rap Retake), The Hunger and Money Game Pt. 2. If you want to get into his singing, may I suggest anything he's done with Chinchilla (Chalk Outlines, How To Be Me), Humble and Ocean.

Losing it is also very good and is just fun.
And Power is super fun and good - Hell all Ren’s music is good - I can’t find my favourite . Just have a playlist for each mood I am in.
Maaaan...i don't know how Comments could steer you so wrong. As great as Genesis is (and it IS great), it's by far one of his weakest rap tracks imo. The Hungerr, What You Want, Money Game Part 2, Losing It Fisher Retake... all better than Genesis; lyricism, flows, production, all objectively much much better. That Genesis groove, though.... it tugs at something deep deep down
One great thing about Ren (IMO) is not every track is about flexing. Genesis is the story of his life and how "creation" (Genesis) is in a way, his medicine. He has a similar message in Power. Another incredible song. But it's not "rappity rap".
