Great job Nick! Pretty cool seeing how your shop has come together! 👍🏼Something I have learned when trying to find space is to “build up, instead of building out.” Things like cabinets or utilizing that space near the ceiling(especially in corners)
Great video Nick, thanks for sharing your experienced point of view, it is really helpful to those of us that are trying to maximize a smaller space and get it right the first time..! Give Walter a high 5 for me, he's a cool looking dog.
Just built a 10x12 shop have spent hours trying to figure out how I’m gonna built the work benches and shelves to fit everything in and this video gave me better ideas then any of the big channels thank you man
This is the single nicest comment I've ever received on CZcams. Thank you, and I'm glad I can help. My next video is going to be on some lumber storage solutions, which may be of interest to you too. Congrats on the new shop!
Really good points about the myths of mobility and how much wall space French cleats devour. Good luck with your channel. Walter is one handsome boy! Take those pics as they sure grow fast.... Greetings from the south western corner of Australia. Stay safe.
I'm trying to improve my section at work as my old supervisor has retired and I've taken over. Only problem is it's a complete mess and there is little room to expand. These tips will be useful in trying to bring some order to the chaos! First thing I wanna do is put shadow boards up on the walls and shelving on the roof beams.
I liked the video and would like to see more ideas like this. I have a 22x 12 shop and sometimes it gets crowded the more I advance my skills. I recently did some reorganization but ideas like this really help.
This is the kind of feedback I wish everyone gave. I'm in a 12x20 workshop now, and need to do a few more projects. But plan on doing a shop tour/shop tips video soon!
Welcome to the hobby Dan. I'm working on building a new shop (one car garage) and am going to "restart." Sounds like it may be a series that would interest you.
for my table saw i made a platform with locking rubber wheels for it to sit in and a removable plywood top, so when not in use can be used as a extra work bench and not damage the top
Thanks Graff! Walter is a Pudelpointer - a German, versatile hunting dog breed. He's 4 months old today. I could see him getting his own video at some point!
Thanks Nick. Just subscribed. I’m building my shop into 1/2 of a garage bay. One of my first improvements is more lighting. 67 year old eyes need a lot of light. 😉
@@nwcaymans thank you for subscribing! Congrats on the new shop coming! Hey, my 28 year old eyes are empathetic haha Shop Nation has a few videos that I liked on shop lighting if you're looking for more input on the decision making process.
do you happen to have a link for the lumberjocks photo you showed here? trying to find it to no avail... small shop cart cabinet for benchtop tools etc...
I found the picture for reference on pinterest, but after a little bit of digging, it looks like it's a woodcraft e-download plan: www.woodcraft.com/products/bench-tool-system-downloadable-plan?via=573621f669702d06760016d9%2C57892a5e69702d6b76000087&epik=dj0yJnU9S1o2UmlHOHEtcnFZV2hTWmt4Y3lTelZCN2stQ0lRSTgmcD0wJm49eG42cmpkVW9HUXNncHZoZ21QUnRCdyZ0PUFBQUFBR0t3aWdR
Im only 5' 2" so i need some ideas on how to nuild vertically, working in a small space and how to access my vertical pieces, again my height. Pulleys?? Spides? I could really use your brain sir, and if anyone else could gove me ideas yes please and thsnk you all in advance
Hmmm that’s an interesting one. Have you seen those spider brackets? (I think that’s what they’re called). Those may help to build cabinets than can be pulled down. Something like this but that would go up and down ZEONHEI 1 Pair 50kg/100lbs Folding Lift up Top Table, 150N Gas Hydraulic Hinge Hardware, Lifting Frame Desk Mechanism Spring Hinge Bracket with 30 Screws, Tea Coffee Table Furniture Accessories a.co/d/csk3u6u
In Tip 4, there's a thumbnail for a video in addition to the image I'm referencing. That thumbnail isn't supposed to be shown until Tip 5. Sorry!
Holding a dog during a video presentation was not good. It is distracting from what you meant to show. Your work shop.
Sorry.
Thanks for the video - very helpful. Also, belly rubs to Walter / he is great!!!
Interesting tios, thank you for sharing. Everyone stay safe, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Great tips! Thank you 😁
Bringing tools to work piece - that’s actually a great tip that I think is often overlooked. Great video & love the dog !
I agree.
Thanks, Tony! Welcome to the channel
Well done, thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Farmercl!
All good points
Great ideas. Simple yet effective
Thank you!

Yes! I'm finding the same thing. I would expect that there won't be much wall to see in my shop pretty soon lol

I definitely will!
Ceiling utilization is a great tip!

I hope they help! I found the rafters to be pretty valuable. And some kind of modular wall storage depending on the situation.
Good tips!

How come you don’t insulate the walls?
The walls are insulated, mostly with foam sheets. This is also in the basement, so mother nature provides a certain amount of insulation
He didn't want to be held anymore
My problem is spiders. Any storage solution i come up with gets utilized by the little web spinning demons.
The most important tip is have a dog…..
