  • Lazzarini Design unveils The Air Car, a flying car powered by four Rolls-Royce jet engines that can rotate when necessary for maneuverability and takeoff or landing. Each one of these engines can independently adjust the inclination as well as rotation, ensuring stability at high speeds and agility when turning.
the rotation of the jet engines in a 4×4 configuration the air means that it can operate at variable heights and inclines depending on the cruising speed. Measuring 6 meters in length, it can comfortably accommodate a pilot and three passengers. It can achieve an estimated top speed of 466 miles per hour and has a range of 745 miles running on jet fuel. Unfortunately, there’s no indication that The Air Car has retractable wheels for operation on normal roads.

The Jetsons! If you build it they will come.
I worry about bird strikes and what emergency protocols you've considered procedure wise and night flying.
What altitudes are common for this type of air travel, as well as FCC Communications regulations for this type of aircraft, air traffic clearances and type of fuel.
How heavy are they in the air, longest flight time, distance?
How long can they remain in the air, fuel capacity, how do they handle? Are they similar to that of a small aircraft or do they feel more like driving/riding in a car?
    Intriguing, really.

Nice CGI - the closest it will ever get to flying , It's impact will be on the ground if it ever gets off it --if the motors can only gimbal the few degrees shown and it has no wings it is going to be of extremely short range and low controllability -- 'designers' of whatever should steer clear of aircraft engineering.

Why now? This technology isn't new, so why now all of a sudden?
It seems like it will be too loud. Helicopters use headsets to communicate, those engines are extremely loud. I could see this being used as a helicopter would, but it won't be more efficient or easier to fly.
I'm not really liking the idea of flying cars. I don't think there's anything I can do about it, but it seems like it would be annoying and just bad. I guess I just don't want to see the world change that much. I used to like the idea, but now it seems too divorced from reality.
I also think that it's funny that these things are carbon fiber (aka plastic weave reinforced resin). Because plastic is so strong and expensive... 🤪
I do like the color and design of the body. I was thinking about a flying car with similar design of 4 propellers, but it was powered by motor/generators that have unlimited range. I just don't know if its a good idea. Billions of people with flying cars sounds bad, but so does ultra exclusive flying cars, like a yacht or something. I do think that cities will be less important in the future in some cases, but not all cases, so its a challenge to say the least. Car infrastructure is crazy, really everything actually, so I don't know what to do.

  • @Albert_XXI

People are barely able to roll along a paved road without compromising theirs and others safety so it better be full auto. Just remove man from flight decisions and traffic control and we might have individual flying devices.
About the concept, Harrier, Avrocar, etc use jet power to climb vertically and float and were developed in the 60's, nothing new here.
About power source, the future running on JP4 fuel??
    Design is appealing.
Conclusion, this will be one more toy for people with absurd amount of income.

You are creating a car that only the minority few can use it...not for the common folks.. imaging flying up to the sky then suddenly, the driver do not know where to land at in his destination point, because he has only seen the final destination via road direction (which is common to him)...also which destination is conducive to land...this car might be used by pilots only who knows about flight simulation and technical flight knowledge..if for the non technical, there is going to be a lot of air travel accidents and injuries...it's not something that everyone can just pick up a screw driver and be able to use it...and if you think you can tempt the novice who are rich about this idea, you are carelessly disregarding their life.

This is a level of stupidity I can't wrap my head around. Why is it called air "car" when it doesn't have any wheels or drive like a car? Why does it have rear brake lights? Anyone can design a pretty concept of what is essentially a drone, but building and certifying it is another thing entirely. Computer renders aside, this will not be flying in 2024. 🤦🏻‍♂
