    I cheaped out and bought the Feelworld Monitor because I didn't know about the feature to connect an SSD to the Ninja V. I am getting this monitor this week

    or the Shogun Connect. But the Prores RAW in the FX30 is cropped to 78% of the image sensor.

    Seems like you didn’t research it before you did the purchase, most newer cameras can handle the codecs internally. Got mine years ago, mainly for the display and because it was on say\Le in a package for a good price. I knew I was going to do more video and the recording side would be used then. Came in handy with my Z6II that didn’t do 10 bit 4:2:2 internally. Using Sony cameras now, the CF Express type A cards they use are pricey in larger capacities, the SSD for the Ninja is going to cost less than the type A cards. Angel bird makes high quality cards.

      You are right! I did not do my research, I was in the shop saw the Atomos Ninja and Got excited and just bought it, This is why I'm sharing my experience with other people so they don't make the same mistake. I now have one CF card, one SD card and the Angel bird SSD. After using the Ninja now for the last two weeks I am beginning to really like it, even though I can only get the 30fps RAW ive realised the file size is so huge and I'm still really digging the other video's I get from other codecs which do allow 60fps.

      @@Sonymoviemasters Raw files sounds so great when CZcamsrs talk about it, all the detail, etc., it’s not until you try it that you realize how huge the files are. For most of us, that would chew up our drive space in short order. For me, it was really useful to do 10 bit recordings from the Nikon, even though it was mostly for my talking head videos, there was a noticeable improvement in quality. The FX30’s files looks good out of the camera and the XAVC S-I files are fairly large as well but easier for your computer to work with. The XAVC HS files are compressed H.265 files, if you have one of the newer M1/M2 based Macs, the media engine will handle it fine. Depending on what you are doing, the H.265 HQ setting will give you good quality files but your computer needs to be able to handle it. You could also use ProRes 4:2:2 but the files will be bigger.
      The false color portion took me a while to figure out but once I understood it, I use that on the Ninja all the time. Once cameras start implementing that, along with higher codecs internally for recording, that will make most people not need one however, that means more bulk as fans has to be added.

      @@waynerm002 I was just going to say that! I tried raw once!

      @@nyambe That’s all it takes to scare you off it. Doing CZcams now, a lot of people won’t care about the quality of the files, unless it looks really crappy. I tested the FX30’s XAVC S-I mode and the Ninja’s highest codecs here is the result for a 1 minute 4K 30 video:
      XAVC S-I :2.22GB
      XAVC-HS (H.265) : 30p Not supported
      NINJA V H.265 HQ (4:2:2) : 578MB
      NINJA V ProRes 4:2:2 : 4.06GB
      NINJA V ProRes Raw : 8.72GB
      If I was back home with the PC and multi-terabyte hard drives, I probably would use the ProRes 4:2:2, I use the XAVC S-I mode for low light filming with Cine EI and got some pretty good stuff that I posted on my channel, made me really appreciate what this camera is capable of.

      @@waynerm002 It takes a lot less to scare me!! I want a happy life 🙂. Rocking v60 cards XAVC S 4K, recording proxies for reference. With Cine IE you can only record HD on the ninja V. So I still record, but as a backup. For Social Media the Slog files are the backup, the HD Prores in a 4K timeline work great. With ProresRaw you don't get any lens corrections, giro data, and Resolve can't use them. Not using Resolve with Cine IE is missing out on lots of fun and experimentation. It's good to have raw for some comercial project but I have not have the need. Thanks for the data table, that is helpful

    i wanna ask sometrhing, is there can be recorded Prores HQ in 4K 60 fps in FX30? or just limit in 30fps?

    • @starwaves9917
      @starwaves9917 Před rokem +2

      Prores isn’t supported on the FX30 at all. The Nija V does record Prores HQ (Not raw) at 4K 60.

    ive been able to record 60frames with gh5 on ninja v without issues ...
    I just ordered fx30... now are you saying fx30 is the one that doesn't allow the 60frames output to ninja v?
    Noy sure if I understand because gh5 works fine with ninja v for 60frames

      but if you have the atomos ninja v. + (yes there is a plus version) that can do 60fps raw

      @@Sonymoviemasters So the actual issue is not the FX30, which can send out (cropped) 4.7k raw 60fps, but the non plus recorder can only record up to 30fps..

    That's complete BS....not sure on which side Atomos or Sony....but I can record 4.2k 59.96 with the A7S3+NinjaV but the FX30....a lesser camera....I'll need a more expensive monitor+recorder to get 4k60? Hell the Ninja V can record up to 6k30....

    • @Sonymoviemasters
      @Sonymoviemasters  Před rokem +1

      Just to clarify, we are talking about RAW 4k60fps. the FX30 can record 4K 60FPS, actually 4k120fps. but not in raw, but the FX3 and FX30 just had a firmware update that now supports DCI 4K!
