    DESCRIPTION/ABSTRACT:
The gallery@calit2 and the UCSD Department of Theatre and Dance will present a special guest lecture on May 24 by renowned artist Ann Hamilton, who will talk about recent works and her award-winning career. Hamilton is a visual artist internationally recognized for the sensory surrounds of her large-scale, multi-media installations. Known for creating liminal environments that are rich in accumulated material, Hamilton's installations create immersive experiences that poetically respond to the architectural presence and social history of their sites, including notably The Tower (pictured) for the Oliver Ranch in Geyserville, California. Most recently, she participated in The Third Mind exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City with human carriage, a site-specific installation in the museum's rotunda. Hamilton is currently working on several public projects and is preparing for a 2010 project installation at the Pulitzer Foundation in St. Louis.

Contemporary artists should have wordshops, rather than workshops.
