How likely is it for 1st year students to get residence of their choice
Our book now system for residence allows you to choose the exact room you want in the residence of your choice! As long as you have been admitted into your program you will be able to log on right away on February 18th to choose your residence. Keep in mind the more popular residences will sell out quicker than others!

L'admission est sorti et j'ai été refusé, le problème est qu'il y avait des erreurs dans mes relevés de notes qui ont pu être corriger maintenant par mon école. J'aimerais savoir si c'est possible de déposer mes relevés de note corriger afin que la décision de demande d'admission soit reconsidérer ? Merci

Why was there not a tour of Henderson?
We were unable to get to that residence when we were filming this video but we hope to release some content in the near future that shows off Henderson!

Hello! We are so glad that you enjoyed the video. To clarify, all units in Annex have a washer and dryer.

What about security, unauthorized students parties in the residences and noise?
We have community advisors on each floor of each residence that are responsible for maintaining the rules and making sure that all students respect them. Moreover, we have security at the entrances of some of the residences which limits the number of people able to go into someone else's residence.
I went to Ottawa U in the 80s. I lived in Orleans, so commuted in on the bus everyday. And I'm in SHOCK! A room with a PRIVATE bathroom?!?! Everyone will want one!! That's. ...That's. ...LUXURY! Are uni students ALLOWED luxury these days? Back in my day, there were no luxuries! A private bathroom?! EGAD!

You have to have been admitted in order to apply to residence!

You can request to be in a room with a friend or you can also be assigned a roommate, it is your choice.

This year, specially, there is the opportunity to apply to only one semester, fall or winter, so yes you should be able to in January 2021!

The French Immersion placement test should be available for you to take right now.
Can I request a specific roommate when applying? How certain is it that I will be placed with the person I requested (if they also requested me)?
You can definitely request a roommate! As long as both of you have requested each other and have respected the deadlines it is almost guaranteed that you will be with the person you requested!
Hello, small question. Can I share a room with a 2nd year student, knowing that I'm in first year??
A 2nd year student can not stay in a residence that is on campus. But if you choose to live off campus then it is possible to live with a 2nd year student.

You do not need to accept your offer in order to apply, you simply have to be admitted.
Are incoming exchange students able to apply for on-campus accommodation? (for a full year)
Yes they can! They just need to make sure that you have been "accepted" at uOttawa and that they have their login info for uOzone! Portal opens March 23rd!

Tous les étudiants de première année ont la garantie d'obtenir un place en résidence s'ils en font la demande avant le 3 juin ! Le portail restera ouvert après cette date, mais il faut absolument faire une demande dès que possible !

As long as you have been admitted, you can apply for residence!
Is Friel on campus?
Friel is an off-campus residence.
I want to apply to 90U but I feel like because je serais dans le programme français immersion je devrais choisir Marchand... 😓🤷🏾♀️
why?
You can choose any residence of your liking as long as it's available! There are no specific residences for the French Immersion stream.
Idk somewhere on the uottawa pages it says that many ppl that speak French go to the Marchand residence and French immersion students would benefit doing the same. I like 90U’s layout so I’ll probably apply to that when I hopefully get accepted 😅
What residence would you recommend for first years?
It honestly depends on the experience that you would like as a first year student and what you make of it. If you know that you want your own bathroom and some more privacy it would probably be best that you choose a residence such as 90U, Annex etc. But if you are looking to live in a residence where you don't mind sharing the bathroom and are looking for a lifestyle that allows you to be a bit more integrated with your peers then a traditional style residence would be the right option such as Marchand, Thompson etc. I hope this helps!
