- The story of some microjig clamps that were sent to me two years ago, how it led to a drawer under a table, and spotting that same box in one of Bob Clagett's videos. Also talking about other clamps that I like.

Ha! "Microjig, makers of the yellow push blocks that I don't like very much"
Yeah cram it steve ramsay!
@@FriggOff361 😥
@@SteveRamsey best thing about microjig: Steve's Ads for them. It's quite difficult to come up with so many different stories interrupted by them.
@@SteveRamsey Okay fine iam subscribing your making me feel bad!
J P very Canadian of you!! Hey @Steve Ramsey cram it.....f**k I can't do it either, we are both sorry I'll sub too....😬
Thank you for never selling out, Matthias!
That looks like a mighty fine drawer for filling with your collection of old cables that might come in handy for something.
I already have several drawers for that, bigger ones :)
I just recycled 2 contractor bags of old cables... like floppy drive cables and IDE cables... a bajillion short USB cables from arduino projects, e-waste cables from disassemble printers... etc.
Who would have thought the best thing Microjig made was a clamp? 🤔
That’s good for small jigs...wait a second....
Apparently, it's not the clamps. It's the box they come in.
The moment I saw that drawer open I thought "how strange, it's just a mitred butt joint. Not very Wandel-esque." Low and behold...
I like these small stories, keep'em up!
Thanks for making this video! It’s the little things, like clamps, that make me happy.
Very nice and honest review! Nice “between the builds” as well!
LOL perfect. really great. Love these little shop bits. they are actually really helpful.
I never get tired of seeing those orange bins you got out of that box you bought. Especially in a drawer like that where you can just pull it open and see what you've got.
That drawer is the perfect spot for your pocket hole jig collection!
I'm pretty sure that you are thinking of the trash can
Wow Matthias! great video yet again!
Nice Story, exactly the kind of "recycling" or rather "upcycling" I love to see and do myself!
If the new use is actually the only use you've made of the thing, is that unicycling?
Trigger clamps and spring clamps create the perfect force for gluing. I use F and C clamps only for forcing warped wood.
I have a pair of the dovetail clamps. I use them for auxiliary fences. I'm happy with them.
It was only about a month and a half ago that I had to go to Montreal for work and my coworkers looked at me all confused when I told them how excited I was to get to check out a Canadian Tire for the first time after years of hearing about it here. All the stuff of my miserly cheap dreams! Though of course the one in downtown Montreal is likely to be quite different from a proper one in the suburbs.
I suggest a couple 10 or 12" c clamps. Never thought i would use them when I bought the, but for building my deck they were awesome. You can really put a squeeze on things.
Yes sir, very enjoyable
Thanks for your thoughts , we do not have c clamps in Australia but we always had g clamps and they look the same.
Epic woodworkers like you can never have enough clamps :-)
Wife and I were in a Rockler store for their 65th anniversary party, and heard a man say that to his friend.
I withheld blurting out (knowing my wife was somewhere nearby) "Yeah, that hasn't worked with my wife."
My wife met up with me later, saying she heard him say that too, and almost said, "My husband tried that with me...."
Not sure I want to say great minds think alike... because I'll fire up the "clamp(s) of the month club" again... someday
muy buena explicacion amigo
Useful!
I was just looking at clamps at Lowe's!
"Micro jig- Makers of the yellow push blocks i dont like very much" Hahaha My monicle fell out !
I have always wondered about that box🤔
You should make more videos like this, they’re entertaining! I also never seen you use those wooden clamps jimmy diresta likes to use so much, just an observation.
I have one of those, but it's so rare that there's just the use for it that I forget that I have it.
I have a small collection of decent clamps supplemented by Harbor Freight clamps. I figure six HF are almost as good as one Bessey. For the same price. AND free flashlights.
Been looking at those microjig claps just to make mounts for jigs, really thinking I might buy some eventhough they are a little on the pricey side.
Steve Ramsey at woodworking for mere mortals should get 3 boxes of that stuff! Maybe you can use the Skype for woodworkers to give home a few things ;-)
I suggest putting roasted peanuts in the shell in that drawer. ;^)
5 pounds of Hoody's would just fit
Putting bob and jimmy on blast! :P Jimmy rarely uses a push stick let alone a microjig haha
Jimmy also cut his little finger on the table saw one time
@@matthiasrandomstuff2221haha true! i love watching all you guys :)
👍
Just waiting for Jimmy to chime in and comment.. 😂
Or Bob.
Lol, I'm still trying to figure out why he brought them up...
Do you ever use "wooden cam clamps"? I was always fascinated by their simple design... :)
so those dovetail clamps are best used in a workbench with bench(dog) holes.
I have the same small canadian tire clamp. Must be 20yrs old.
Yes, I got those a very long time ago!
1:46 what is that another episode of CSI 😂
Obviously put clamps in the drawer 😂 or some spare diapers for when you have to watch the kids but also want to work in the shop!
Desculpa o incomodo e bom trabalho.
You can always put the clamps back in the drawer... :-P
I know you don't have Harbor Freight up there (It's pretty much the same as your Canadian Tire) but they have the best-for-your-buck F-clamps. They're only about $4 for the shortest ones, and they have sales and coupons for them all the time. The only downside is the pads come off really easy, but a wood pad can be epoxied in its place.
Princess Auto is most like HF.
I find them to be weaker than the Irwin.
@@RyanLovettInSpace Of course they are, they cost 1/4 as much, but for clamping glue-ups they're more than adequate.
@@milesparris4045 Fair enough. :)
Man I just refuse nowadays to buy new clamps, the cheap china ones just all break on me and the good quality ones like Bessey are too expensive for me, so I scrounge for 2nd hand ones. I will probably start making my own.
Fill the drawer with M&Ms.
For me, Microjig dovetail clamps and Dewalt HD quick grip clamps are so worth the extra cost.. Those bessey ratching clamps are annoying
MicroJig push blocks are the best/safest push blocks out there!
I don't do any kind of woodworking, but I'm starting to suspect that there's a reason for there to be so many different kinds of clamps
It's the earliest lesson in any level of woodworking: You're *always* missing *that one clamp you need*.
It might be me, however, I was wondering how you keep your clamps in immaculate condition. They are pristine.
You can wax them. That keeps glue from sticking. You can just be careful when you're working too. That goes a long ways towards things not getting jacked up.
I have broken far too many of those quick-grip clamps
you shod do a video on testing them???????
Can festool/bessie shape also fit the slots on the pantorouter? Do you know what size those slots are? It looked like B-style 8mm?
The bessey clamp is made to fit those slots. The Festool is just a green bessey with festool stamped on it.
The plastic ratchet/trigger in the Bessey made clamps is NOT UV stable, even at very low levels such as through a window and not in direct light - not stable. And they refuse to supply replacement parts. Hopefully someone will put up a free 3D printer file so people can make their own replacements as needed.
Jimmy probably has a intern spraying promotional gear white and black as soon as it comes to his door
I found the Sure Foot F Style Clamps from Rockler to be my favorite clamps the ones from Harbor Freight are Junk!
You should try out the Harbor Freight clamps. Best clamp for the price hands down.
I wonder if princess auto has the same clamps. (No Harbor Freight in Canada)
@@JDeWittDIY Hmmmm. Maybe.
btw all clamps are “chinese” clamps ;)
You probably just did not recognize them in a Diresta vid because they had "Diresta" written all over them.
What Diresta does, is pretty smart, no need to put any watermarks in his videos that way.
@@PhilepZ who would want to steal his video anyway? also putting you brand to mask the real brand of an object is very immoral. since you didnt make that object/tool and are purpusly hiding the true creator you are stealing the well deserved fame.
@@Francois_Dupont If you ever watched the old videos Jimmy put out you would know exactly why he does that to all his tools!
@@Francois_Dupont It used to happen quite a lot, actually.
That *is* specifically why he started putting his logo all over everything.
The people stealing videos thing is happening much less now. CZcams has started clamping down on it. I think copies of videos, even with different sound, are now instantly demonetized.
How about filling it with some clamps?
too far from the workbench
@@matthiasrandomstuff2221 Put clamps that you don't like in it.
Since you don’t like those Match fit clamps, would you like to sell them to me?
You know what you could make with your million clamps? Look up the Polygon by MADE, it's just repeating sheets of bent plywood, but they're charging 350 England dollars
Out of curiosity, why don't you like the "yellow push block"? Is it just because you prefer the longer sticks or some other reason?
Push sticks are a better technology and really easy to make.
@@matthiasrandomstuff2221 but they provide worse control over the workpiece
@@bs838 That is entirely subjective and a lot of people would disagree with you.
@@JDeWittDIY I think it's actually objective. Think about the fact that there's a few points of contact between the push stick and the workpiece, as compared to an entire SURFACE of contact between the pushblock and the workpiece. I'm not saying the Gripper is the only way to go, but in a stick vs block debate the block is almost always safer
@@bs838 The block brings your hand closer to the blade than the sticks. How is that safer?
Things, drawers are for things, put things on it, random things, I do no not want to see anymore kind of things. Looks sturdy, put heavy things, like big bolts and nuts.
I personally built that box. Sorry you didn’t appreciate it :/
How nice of you driving some Traffic over to Bob. But he doesn't need it, i do! :D
You NEVER HAVE enough Clamps..
Fill it with the stacks of cash you get for being a corporate shill? ;)
Can you guys stop saying cheap Chinese ....you buy them because they are affordable and if you think they're cheaply made you can buy something else or make your own. Chinese people are great craftsman because they have been making things for much longer than most other countries. The traders ask them to make things for as cheap as possible so they can keep going to the bank.
