  • Welcome! We are excited that you decided to join our team here in NAS Sigonella.
Unaccompanied Housing (UH) strives for STAR service every day, and we continue to improve our processes and services to better the program.
We understand that transitions often require adjustments, and familiar faces can help new personnel adapt to the new environment more effectively. With that in mind, UH offers the Roommate Matching program, which allows residents to request for a room with a familiar personnel, a friend, or a resident with similar interests.
Another program we have, the Resident Advisor program, is meant to hone leaders and promote mentoring of E1 to E3 Service Members. They are familiar with our facilities, and trained in sexual assault prevention and suicide prevention. They also help us promote events that benefit the residents and disseminate crucial announcements regarding our facilities and services.
To ensure the safety of our residents and to maintain our facilities in good condition, UH staff performs regular room and building inspections. To this extent, residents are held to comply with the daily living standards as provided in this resident handbook. Residents and command representatives are highly encouraged to participate in our town hall meetings to freely discuss achievements and challenges, and to collaborate ideas for improvements.
The quickest way for residents to get help is by contacting the building managers or visiting the staff office in the building. We post events and announcements on Facebook (NAS Sigonella Barracks), and we continue to enhance our social media capabilities. Most importantly, we keep an open-door policy so feel free to visit, call, or email me or my UH team. I am located in NAS I Building 319, and I can be reached at (DSN) 624-4075 or by email at NASSIG-HousingUH@eu.navy.mil.
    Enjoy your stay.
    Sincerely,
    UH Director

Was here in 1991 & 1994 for 6 month deployments (I flew in a P-3 squadron). In '91 we stayed in the 6-pack (BEQ). Room doors faced outside & I was on the top floor (6th floor). For my last deployment there the 6 pack was closed ready to be demolished so we stayed in the old Marine barracks (barracks right behind the sports bar). I flew out of Sigonella during the Gulf War & Operation Deny Fight over Yugoslavia. Good times.

I was in Sig in 99 for the war in Kosovo. So many troops we were crammed like sardines. The video makes it look like a hotel now. Since we were on a war footing it was not a vacation but I did take the base sponsored tours to Mt. Etna, Palermo and as much as I could.

Spent four years at Sigonella, from 1987 to 1991. Man oh man, I cant tell you how much things have changed. When I was there Sig was considered a hardship tour. Etna is a force for sure!

How was it tension wise during those years? Because that's when the sicilian mafia was bombing cars and buildings. Oh yea did the local sicilian girls like american sailors?

Made a trip to Palermo, never really noticed the mob in any overt way. Back then I would say sailors were liked.

Reportedly the U.S. rented the tranmitter facility at Niscemi, and the mafia would tell us of any anti-american activity from the Red Brigade organization. Sicily is a WHOLE different country nowadays.
