This isn't a complete ballet. But it appears to include most of the scenes Basil/Basilio (Polunin) appears in. I edited together footage I found of performances from 2012-2014 to create one performance that was as complete as possible.
This also isn't a professional recording or editing. I made it for my own enjoyment and am sharing it for those who may like it, despite the varying quality of footage and editing.
It opens with the lowest quality video. Higher quality footage begins at 3:24 when Kitri arrives. Even higher quality footage begins at 5:20 when Basil arrives. After that, video qualities are mixed throughout, using as little low resolution video as possible. The longest stretch of low quality video begins at 56:33 and ends at 1:04:50. There are also several cuts in the scenes where no footage for that part of the performance was available. The audio is also of varying quality.
I also included extras of Sergei's solos and a couple extra curtain calls.

Prologue
Don Quixote, having read his fill of romances about knights and chivalry, sets off on his travels in order to achieve great feats, which will bring glory to his name. As his sword-bearer, he chooses the loyal Sancho Panza, a man of sober outlook who is not prone to dreams.
Act I
In Barcelona there is festive animation in the air. Kitri, daughter of the innkeeper, is flirting with Basilio, the barber, who is in love with her. Finding them together Lorenzo, Kitri’s father, chases Basilio away: the barber is no fit match for his daughter. Lorenzo intends Kitri to marry Gamache, a rich nobleman. Kitri refuses outright to submit to her father’s will.
At the height of the merry-making, Don Quixote appears in the square, accompanied by his sword bearer, Sancho Panza. Catching sight of the innkeeper, Don Quixote mistakes him for the owner of a knight’s castle and greets him with respect. Lorenzo responds in like terms and invites Don Quixote into the inn. Sancho Panza is left in the square. But when some young people start to mock Sancho ,Don Quixote immediately hurries to his sword-bearer’s rescue.
Seeing Kitri, Don Quixote thinks she is the beautiful Dulcinea whom he has seen in his dreams and chosen as ‘the lady of his heart’. But Kitri disappears. She has run off with Basilio. Lorenzo,Gamache and Don Quixote set out to look for her.
Act II
Scene 1
Kitri and Basilio are hiding in a tavern. Here they are found by Lorenzo, Gamache and Don Quixote. Lorenzowishes to make an immediate announcement of the betrothal of Kitri and Gamache. But Basilio, by agreement with Kitri, pretends to take his life. Kitri sobs over the body of her sweetheart. Don Quixote overcоme by noble indignation accuses Lorenzo of hardheartedness and, threatening him with his sword forces him to agree to his daughter’s marriage with the barber Basilio jumps to his feet.There is no point in him pretending to be dead any longer.
Scene 2 [MISSING]
Don Quixote and Sancho watch a puppet show at a gypsy encampment. In his delusional state, Don Quixote attempts to rescue the puppets and injures himself in the process.
Scene 3 [MOSTLY MISSING]
Sancho Panza settles Don Quixote down in a forest to sleep, while he runs for help. Don Quixote dreams of Dulcinea surrounded by Dryads and fairies. Sancho Panza comes back with the Duke and Duchess who have been hunting in the forest. They invite the travelers to visit them in their castle.
Act III
All is ready at the castle for the reception of Don Quixote.
Having heard from Sancho Panza the story of Kitri and Basilio’s love, the Duke and Duchess allow them to hold their wedding in the castle. Don Quixote and Sancho Panza occupy the seats of honor. A solemn procession files past. Don Quixote again mistakes Kitri for Dulcinea, but is finally persuaded that she is the innkeeper’s daughter he helped to unite with Basilio. The festivities continue and all thank the valiant knight and his faithful sword-bearer. - Hudba

While Sergei only makes guest appearances with other theatre companies right now, he has his own company and has been regularly performing - he never left or retired. He had a very full schedule, including classical ballet performances as a guest artist in 2018-2019. Now that Covid restrictions have lifted in some places, he has resumed a busy performance schedule. His next appearance is a performance of "Romeo & Juliet" scheduled for December 1st in London at the Royal Albert Hall. Tickets are sold out.

The end of the Tavern scene is the best I have ever seen. I saw the Bolshoi Don Quixote and the Carlos Acosta version of the Royal Ballet and thought it couldn‘t get any better, but this one was genius. I couldn‘t stop laughing about Don Quixote and his friend when they were leaping from one side of the stage to the other in front of the curtain... that’s genius!! 😂😂😂 Such great comedic timing, dancing and acting!! These small things make such a difference to me.
Who are playing Don Q and his friend? And Gamache?
In many productions of Don Quixote, I feel that Don Q as the the title hero is „neglected“, and it doesn’t really come across how he wants to change the world. But here, it’s just wonderful, even in this very little fraction when they are off on their quest.

I'm sorry I can't give any credits for these dancers - I agree so many of them gave such lively performances, even in roles that I've found admittedly... boring... to watch in the other production I've seen. Although I did try to hunt down the credits for the performances, I was unable to find anything besides the information I've provided in the video description.

I felt like Acosta's completely made hash of the tavern scene, especially the "suicide," which is usually hilarious. And IIRC it was a really long first act and he threw in some stuff with the Gypsy camp that dragged, then sort of put acts 2 and 3 together. I recently saw Nela with Vadim doing his slightly restructured gpdd and they were fabulous. My overall favorite has still been Baryshnikov's as he originally staged it. By the time it got filmed (him with Cyntthia Harvery), he had trimmed it so it was down to around 75 minutes.

This is one of the funniest Gamaches I've ever seen. This may be a question for Pam Simon, but is there any footage of him doing Balanchine's Theme and Variations? I thought I'd ask here since you're really good about answering messages! Just at the end of Act 1 and enjoying every minute!
I do try! I doubt I have anywhere near as many comments to answer as Pam Simon gets, though. (It's her "fault" I'm here. Haha. Her "27 Times Sergei Polunin Made Me Say Wow" was the video that introduced me to Polunin. I am forever in her debt. And my sister's, for sharing the video with me.)
Since I have rather laser-focused sights on finding Polunin content, I can't say I've paid attention to what footage is or isn't available of other dancers, if you mean the dancer who danced Gamache. If you mean Polunin, I haven't come across any "Theme and Variations" so far.
[Edit: Very glad you're enjoying the ballet! It was a lot of fun. With as much time as I have to spend with the footage to do these edits it was at least very fun footage to work with.]
@@IndiaInk Polunin. Just one of those double (?) tours with leg in retire reminded me of a comment someone had made with Baryshnikov, that he did the pirouette/double tour section with leg en retire *as Balanchine choreographed* although that one vid is the only time I've seen it done that way. Have you checked out either Ivan Vasiliev or Semyon Chudin?
@minissa2009 Would you mind time telling me the time mark of the double tour you're talking about? I'm very interested in those kinds of details, but I'm still learning all the ballet terminology. Still in the, "that thing where he has his leg out and spins like this" or "that really big jump thing..." pahse. Haha. Unfortunately the good ballet dictionaries don't come with very many pictures and I'm very cramped on time, so it's a slow process...
I have seen a few solos by Vasiliev. And I just now took a peek at Semyon Chudin, as I didn't recognize the name. They both have qualities I can see why people would admire them. Chudin has a very unique "floating" quality to his leaps and a very long line that makes him look like he's almost moving in slow motion. (I saw a Sleeping Beauty solo). And Vasiliev I won't try to analyze his performance with my limited ballet knowledge and vocabulary - I can tell he dances well - haha. I'll leave it at that.
The thing about Polunin that grabbed me was more than his beautiful and impressive dancing itself. It was the emotional expressiveness and energy that he brings to his dance. It's a unique and arresting quality that I can't describe any better than that. It's nothing against other dancers. And it's not that I think no other dancer is close to his skill level. I'm sure plenty are. But that extra something that sets Sergei apart for me is a part of Sergei himself. And it's that extra quality that most interests me in watching ballet.

I'm not sure if you're comparing Polunin's performance to being equal to Sarahanov's or saying you prefer Sarahanov..? Either way, I hope you enjoyed the performance.
