Watching the next Documentary about the making of this KHMER BLOOD MV shows it a bit more but it's presented and talks through more of a metaphor (as Our Khmers Elders always speak to Us Youngins through Proverbs) ex. ទំពាំង់ស្នងឫស្សី/ I am the shoot that grows strong into Bamboo (is a Powerful Khmer proverb of Honoring one's Ancestors and Parents as we grow older to uphold the Family's Name and Dignity with Pride through due diligent regardless of the paths taken). In this case it’s more of preserving our Native Land and Wildlife (but to those of Us with KHMER BLOOD We get the real message of it as a call to action in Us to Always Honor Ourselves and Preserve Our Indigenous Khmer Roots no matter where, what and how we progress into the Modern world). Ex. “We who have KHMER BLOOD are born to be Resilient. If you challenge us, I doubt that you will be able to endure as we have.” To Remind Us to Never give up and keep pushing forward with Dignity, Fairness and Respect. Because We KHMERS are Still Honorable and Good People in Our Core. 🇰🇭👑🙏🏾

This song is about adapting to a 'Fastly' advancing Cambodia and in a continued neo-colonized environment (Progress by Political Foreigners with little to no Native inputs and contribution 'allowed'). He's questioning himself how to best maneuver this 'new' space delicately without causing internal conflict and war. Ex. "Forced to Adapt to an Environment Opposite to Most other Countries. Stay Sharp, Stay Strong, Dancing around it like a Ballet." Those of Us with Indigenous Blood hence KHMER BLOOD and those of Neo-Colonizers blood who's been infiltrating Cambodia for Centuries 'til today (research Nam Tien) to learn a bit of our history through the colonizers eyes/ records and how just the last 70 years we lost a big chunk of Cambodia to the colonizers (near Vannda’s Birth Place and Khmer Krom “now known as SVN only through westerns backing, but to us Khmers we know Our Ancestral Homeland"). Sadly, most Khmers today have mixed Indigenous and Colonizers blood because of centuries of rape, looting, pillaging and then of course there are those by 2 Families agreeing, respecting and formalizing love and inter-marriage between 2 cultures. This Internal Battle is what a lot of Mixed Khmer children have to face as we get older trying to find ourselves while staying Respectful, Honorable and Faithful to Our Ancient Khmer Ancestors and also true to Ourselves being of Mixed blood and heritage). In the end of the video, he shares WE TOGETHER (With snap visuals of an Indigenous Elder & the Neo-Colonizer Youngins) because at this point fighting each-other is not going to solve anything. The best approach today is to figure a different way out forward on how to best preserve our Ancient Land, People and our Indigenous Heritage and histories without cannibalizing ourselves in the name of "Progress".

The reality of Cambodia today is most of us don’t have the financial backing and our country's military forces to keep the colonizers at bay. At this point they have infiltrated so deep and into all the high places that it’s hard to even say who is who only at face value because that’s what happened during the last foreigners induced war (Operation Men u) that spilled over into our Ancestral homeland. Guerilla Mobs formed soon after and we almost eradicated ourselves and our rich history through extremely poor miscalculations and mediocre military tactics simply by attacking each other only at face value and not properly vetting and calculating through mathematical precision. Today many of us always get mistaken for our colonizers because they have bred us out so heavily that we can’t even tell who is who and who is truly for or against us. (Thus the struggle of Khmers today in the homeland and along the Khmer Diaspora). Many of the young generation sadly won’t even grasp this concept as we are too busy trying to grow, adapt, update and have something for ourselves too. Many of us will feel even more saddened and depressed when they wake up to this reality but by then it’ll almost be too late. Ex. Brother Vannda say: "Fuck Anxiety, I’ll eat it all like a buffet." He’s dealing with this mental health issue many Khmers everywhere are facing and most of us and our parents today haven’t even fully recovered from the last war 40 years ago yet. That’s why this song is so powerful for alot of us with KHMER BLOOD, because this may be art and entertainment to many of you, but to us Khmers it's like our song cry for our people and homeland.
